That is awesome!
YOu are lucky lucky.
Enjoy enjoy.
Thanks. I finally got my car back so I can sell things, and here I am.
Upgrades. Got a cheap appliance pallet, so now I can wheel it around. Not that it’s heavy, it’s just more convenient to roll it in and out of the closet.
I love this setup, even if both boxes were empty, its so damn cool looking
That it is.
VERY cool, @EddieJones . . .
I kept coming back to look at it now and then today . . . . . the silver/gray speakers that match the head is what draws my attention.
Cheers
Joe
I always liked Eden and Ashdown. Actually I pretty much like anything that isn’t Fender or Ampeg lol (no offense to either brand or those that like them. I just see them everywhere. GK is approaching them, too).
It’s painfully hard for me to do separate head and cabs because I am OCD AF sometimes. But I still want a Barefaced cab (probably) and have a Darkglass head. F.
I also like when companies dare to have speaker cones that aren’t black, too.
I’m getting increasingly frustrated with this amp. The manual is out of date or something, or they just don’t tell you how to load your own IRs, and the Windows version of the Suite software that is apparently how you do it is also out of date at 4.2.3 and you need 4.3.0 to use it with this amp (Mac has 4.3.0 right now).
On my iPhone, I go to User IRs and there is a little cloud icon with a refresh symbol, tapping it does nothing, and my Darkglass account has nowhere to load IRs to. It also says “Success!” success at what?? Honestly I have no idea wtf to do at this point lol… I guess hurry up and wait?
Most of the IRs are guitar amps (as is tradition, bassists get-fukt even from a bass-oriented company LOL), and then their own bass cabinets. I think the “Artist” IRs are also bass cabinets, obviously the 8x10s are.
I love technology, but this thing just feels unfinished and it’s a $1000 amp while still being made in China. Kind of funny aside, one of the Factory IRs shows a 2x12 picture and the description is “Classic American 1x12” Near the end there is “analog cabinet” and it shows a mic that shows a greyed out “Microtubes X7” (one of their other distortions and the only one not preset as an effect) and then another that just says “N/A”. Maybe they can just remove those
I can’t look at Suite without connecting to my amp first, slight annoyance but whatever, and I think I’ve already mentioned what a disaster preset browsing is on the app (it keeps fetching presets from the amp…).
Ever since video games started being released with the ability to patch them, initial-release quality has just gone downhill since on just about everything so many things imo
… said every iphone update ever.
I do feel ya, there are many many apps and techs that are just not done when they release. This is what happens when marketing picks a date and hands it to engineering (x7 during a supply chain crisis where chips are one of the most effected things). I am shocked anyone is releasing anything new this year.
Behringer is literally showing new synths and going “No ETA until we can get chips for them”
Have to hand it to Uli, he takes everything to the next level… especially cheez
Yeah, I always liked the Hartke aluminum speakers, or the PJ Red ones.
Wow, Mac before PC, Imaging that.
IIRC, when I had the A/O Ultra and used DarkGlass Suite, when you load IR’s, you have to switch a tab on the screen to user IR’s, the default is the pre loaded IR’s
Yeah, I can see how to use Factory or User IRs, but the iPhone app has no way to load them. It looks like there is some sort of sync option, I’m guessing that it will sync User IRs from the amp once I get them to it. I thought it might be from a Darkglass “cloud” via my account, but that’s not the case.
My ST-300 mini tuner pedal has spoiled me. I can’t seem to do well with any other tuner anymore, they all seem all over the place and tough for me to get centered. This little spinning wheel of LEDs that is a digital strobe tuner, on the other hand… easy peasy XD
There a lot of that colored cone stuff in the auto subwoofer market. Could make for some interesting cab driver changeout projects.
Interesting that yours seems to have different speakers than mine. Mine is several years old.
I also dust it regularly
not a bass amp, sorry … but here is the last one : Vox AC4 C1. full tube, pure class A, and pure Vox pedigree.
Nice, Al. I just got the smaller one the nano. They make good stuff
The latest generation has those silver cones. My old cub has black cones while my C2 is silver. The new ones are a little bit better, but I don’t think most people will hear the difference
Love the Vox looks!
