price is surprisingly good
I am not sure if I love or hate that it has exactly one chicken switch and the rest are modern knobs.
yeah I noticed that too. it’s a busy faceplate, but I don’t hate the look?
It looks like there’s an adjustable high pass filter built in if I’m reading the hieroglyphics right. That’s a nice feature.
Yeah they want you to buy the Bluetooth adapter for that.
More strange is the lack of an fx loop, but it seems you can add effects with the app which makes it a great all-in-one solution.
Nice found!
One of my old man tells at cloud tendencies is annoyance with phone app based controls. The screen is small, the controls have little if any tactile response, and I either have to turn off my phone locking itself or deal with needing to put my passcode back in all the time.
My Luddite takes are actually wires and knobs are good.
Yeah, but they also have that covered. The app is just a big bonus. It’s like a free multi-effect pedal.
You don’t have to use it. I don’t dislike the app on my Katana. It is set and forget!
Actually given the price a free multi effects pedal is a good description. I guess I should try out one of the katana products at some point.
Just bought this used Ampeg BA 108 V2 for my GF. I paid 50€ for it + 15€ shipping, which is quite cheap overall. It’s in very good shape.
Also it sounds quite correct for the price, a bit boxy and the basses are blurry, but, yeah, 50€ … it’s good enough for a compact study amp.
I hope it will be more reliable than the Ampeg BA 115 HPT (V1) I’ve had a few years ago.
selling mine for 40 eur (as new)… I should have increased the price !
Well, what do you know: I just bought its (slightly) bigger brother, the BA-110 v3. Bought it off a guy that was moving house and needed to get rid of it, so he only wanted €50 for it. Not a bad amp for the price, and better than the Fender Rumble 15 I had (which, incidentally, I was able to sell for €60, so that was an added bonus).
The speaker is not good on the 108 V2, but with the EQ I’ve been able to find some reasonnably good tones. Not bad for the price.
I always like the stuff Jeff Genzler comes up with, so the new kinetix tube pre hybrid amp immediately caught my attention. Reading up on it someone harkened back to the Genz Benz streamliner tube hybrid amp from days gone by. I thought I’d look that up just for fun and a music store close to me happened to have a used one they listed on Reverb. I went to go check it out and it sounds amazing. The tag in the store was $20 higher than on Reverb. When they went to check it out, the amp was $70 lower in their system than on Reverb. I asked if I could come back tomorrow. Just kidding. For half the price of the kinetix I’m guessing this is a very similar tube pre design. I’ll come out money ahead after selling both the Tone Hammer 350 and the Effectrode SR-71 Blackbird tube pedal.
Like the tube hybrid idea a lot. Tube tone from the preamp, relatively light power amp.
