Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

Yeah their SR Premiums are pretty incredible, and their midrange SR’s will stand up to other brands $1k+ basses, at least the ones I have seen.

Same goes for Yamaha in that range, just love mine to death. I’ve gone to list my TRBX604 twice now after getting my BB734A and have noped out both times. Just can’t. I like it too much.

I have had my less then stellar experiences with Ibanez. Not horrible, and it’s true, they were more like 2010 models, but it left a mark on me.

That said,

THIS

Enough said.

Except, I still prefer this, but that Ibby is incredible.

Yep, the SR Premiums, man - just super super good. Two years later and I still have never seen a used SR2400.

I would definitively try and have a go hands on first , or if if it’s not much money just grab it and try it for a bit , i just can’t get on with neck it’s quite chunky. Definitely chunkier than my Yamaha and obviously my jazz/ sr at paper thin in comparison

I started with a regular Rumble 40, never imagining I’d ever want to play with another human. Quickly I realized is was very much into tone and knew I also wanted a better amp, but had no idea what type or sound I wanted. I knew zilch.

Thus the Studio 40. Didn’t want to invest in the Stage 800 if ultimately didn’t like the platform. Speaking of Fender quality, took a second go to get one that worked properly. Anyway, I am glad I did it because it has helped me learn what I’m looking for in an amp/cab.

Now the hard part, trialing options that fit the bill. I’ll be traveling close to the Sweetwater megastore in November and hope to make the amp rounds then.

Love that Delano combo. Very cool. Large pole magnets really bring a new fresh approach to tone I dig it.

Yep, my Bongo HS is also has a piezo bridge as well as the optical pickups on the Willcox Saber. When it’s done right piezo pickups are great.

@Al1885 So you think I’m better off with a buffer on one side only or both mag and piezo sides? Which side normally needs it if only 1 sided?

Both I would think. Surely a buffer can handle both. I have a love of love and success with Sonar xPure it has a power selector where you can run 9v or 18v from just one 9v battery.

Which buffers did you narrow down to?

I haven’t yet. The Bartollini guy gave me a reco but only one side buffer. I’ve got two emails in to frank at BBG and still awaiting his reply.

Well, after lots and lots of homework, and lots of music shop visits. Followed by many second hand trials, I finally bought a new bass.
I fell in love with a Godin Shifter 4 Classic in Vintage Burst, played it and fell even more in love, now she’s mine.
I welcome any/all opinions as I’d love to hear what you all think.

BBG would probably could recommend the Delano as well. I know that Bart has a specific mag and piezo buffer. But if you only need one that’s cool. Both are high quality for sure. The cool thing I like about xPure is that it can also be a pure signal preamp. That’s super cool.
