Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

I don’t baby it and I’m always banging it into something so I think it’s on its way!

I’ll contact Delano and see what they say.

Awesome bass and great wood combination! Got the same in the Nighthawk version :sunglasses:

Nice! I’m going to replace the plastic pickguard on mine with the aluminum one of the Nighthawk model as soon as it is in stock again.

I’m pretty down on the quality of their workmanship right now, at least on the mid range models. I took my SR500 apart and the craftsmanship of the current models has gone downhill over the years.

Not an Ibanez fan right now

Man is it hot out there. Hottest day on record in these parts. Waiting for the ferry in the car on the way back from Guitar Center was unreal.

But I made it back, with my new Aerodyne

So that’s my collection of basses, my Aerodyn, Jaguar (which I kept after all the advice), Jazz, and Jazz in BEAD

Haven’t had much chance to play her. Now I need to figure out what strings to put on, because she has Fender strings and those are like barbed wire.

What I have here are La Bella 0760M vintage flats, rest are D’Adarrio; EXL165TP, EXL160, EXL170, (all nickele wounds) and etb92 tape wounds. I am thinking the EXL170.

Thoughts or suggestions? I’m open

Nice looking Aerodyne :+1: I know what you’re saying about those standard Fender strings. Quite nasty

Great! Bass! @Wombat-metal
Love the aerodynes.

The only issue with the M series vintage flats, well two, you may need some nut filing, and you will lock yourself into a very specific tone genre. Don’t plan on playing any metal on them. But if thump is what you want, they have it in spades.

Enjoy the new axe. Looks like you have 1 slot left (before another expansion)!

Stripped her down, cleaned her up, new La Bella 760FS strings. Traced the wiring (quite bizarre) and put her back together and gave her a play.
Most certainly needs a buffer on the piezo, waaaay too loud vs. mag. I totally get it now.
So now to go shopping now that I know what I need.
Let the project begin!

I have a set of 760Ms on my Blue Jazz, along with foam by the bridge. That’s my Jamerson setup, and the tone sounds great. That’s my Motown bass. And blues for thumping with Muddy Waters.

My Jag has a set of ECB81 Chrome Flats by D’Addario. That sounds really nice too, for noodling around 50s/60s and 70s punk.

My black Jazz is in BEAD with EXL170s, so when I’m chugging with Priest that’s my go to.

I do have an empty slot. I have a Squier Jaguar H on order as a project bass, will be swapping out the humbucker with one probably from Nordstrand or EMG, and just pimping it out. In Lake Placid Blue I might add which I love. But that won’t be here for months.

What should come in the next couple weeks is a Sire V7. I will probably put the EXL165TP tape wounds on her. I don’t know why they don’t string through the body at at the factory. Anyway I am hoping to take a bit of edge off the brightness but I don’t want to go as far as flats. I am hoping those will do the trick.

So the Aerodyne is something of a blank canvas. She is elegant, so I want her sound to be fitting. Just not sure what that is yet but the Fender strings have gotta go. So I was thinking the EXL160s as a good general string to learn her voice on.

That’s my setups and thoughts lol.

Yeah, it sucks you had a bad experience there.

I can verify that the SR’s I’ve held in shops were all super good though. I wanted a SR2400 badly for a long time.

Yeah, I am no longer a fan of their mid and low SR range.
No real time with higher end, but I expect they will better.
But, would expect that from high end from anyone, and not all deliver all the time, some more often then others.

NICE!

Managed to get both my Fender and Schecter setup now and really enjoyed it. They both play better and sound even better now as well. It was easier than I thought it would have been, and the videos like the ones you linked really helped.

Even setup my wife’s guitars as well. Now I’m hooked and have a new hobby but I need to stop fiddling with everything lol. Now I’m on a kick of trying out different strings to see what I like.

Yes indeed the fiddling is fun and ha it forming!
