Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

Bought my Squire Precision Bass from a music shop in Ealing London in 1995. Used my first pay check to buy it after arriving in the UK. Tried getting the hang of it multiple times, but kept getting beaten. It travelled with me where ever I moved. Ended up in Dubai and when covid hit I dusted it off and started learning in earnest. Now feeling like progress is being made. Super fun.

glad you are here @LittleEric
The BassBuzz course is where you should be, it will accelerate your learning.

Great bass, btw, that era Squiers are generally awesome.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I recently ended up having to send my Rickenbacker on to a new home. It wasn’t something I ever planned on doing but things happen and the sale certainly helped me out of a bit of a hole. Luckily she went to a very good home.
As some sort of effort to ease the pain I promised myself a bit of a project which arrived today. It’s a 2000 German made Warwick Corvette Standard in need of a few bits and pieces and some serious tlc.
Not quite the Rick but needs must.

Thanks John. Ripping through the BassBuzz course, having a great time.

Sad about the Rick but always exciting to have a new project. What have you planned?

I’ve got to replace the volume pot, repair a crack in the rear of the neck pocket, refinish the body and give the hardware a good clean off the top of my head @Bassdacious
Not expensive repairs apart from the pot if I buy it directly from Warwick.

Oh nice, that’s gonna be a great bass. MiG 'wicks are awesome.

Just been noodling on it @howard . The neck is certainly different to anything else I’ve ever played but not in a bad way.
It’s really quite a simple bass but I like the simplicity

A MiG Corvette with two J’s is gonna be one growly machine.

yeah I bet the neck is hefty - Warwick is pretty famous for having serious necks from the '90s-2000s era.

Hefty neck and heavy body but certainly worth it for that growl . Definitely a different sound

Very distinctive yeah.

Looks good Mac, I think that should scrub up very nicely indeed!

You’re gonna love the bridge and the nut, @Mac - so nice to be able to adjust the height so flexibly for both.

Sorry to hear about that Rick, @Mac!

But, gotta hand it to you, you have an inspiring and pro-active approach to deal with the loss

Amen to that. The Warwick growl is amazing. The MIG’s are really good quality!

Also wood grain finish are the best ones for Warwick. You have a good deal there if you ever want to resell it.

Hey Mac @Mac ,
Sad to see the Ricky move on, the Warwick looks nice, not a Rick😬
Hope you enjoy the Warwick, I am using my Warwick in my next cover.
Can’t wait to get it finished and share it with everyone,
Cheers Brian

Thank you all :+1:
The bridge is pretty amazing @howard but it’s missing its “just a nut “ unfortunately. I’ll sort that at some point in the future.
She sure is no Rick @TNKA36 and there will always be a hole where the Rick was . I would like to say that I really can’t thank you enough for the opportunity you gave me to own an icon for the short time I did :+1:
