Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

Yes I think that is what i would be after too.

@John_E I believe Mike Lull Guitars (local to me) use Fralins in most of their basses.

This one just found a new home. It’s such a sweet bass. Hit all of my bucket list for a bass, strings through body, mute bridge, Birdseye maple neck, and in a secret way the slab body.

I have a set of the Apollos in my Paranormal and they are quite growly, almost a P bass vibe at times. I have no experience with Riptides, but like EMG pups, have them in two basses, soon to be 3.

Here is a good clip of what the Apollos sound like. They are being compared to the MIJ Geddy Lee bass and pickup.

Congratz. It is also my Holy Grail bass.
Is yours a bolt on, or neck thry?
I read quickly, but didnt see if you said it.

My holy grail Carvin will be Neck thru.

In my late teens, early 20’s, I played guitar, and went to the showroom at least once a week, until I finally had enough money to place a catalog order with all the specs I wanted.

Koa wood body, tongue oil finish, neck thru. Gold hardware (not usually a fan of gold hardware on basses, but on natural darker wood guitars, it looks cool.). Active double humbucking pick ups (yes, active pick ups, not pre amp) woth a volume (push pull for active / passive). To e and selector switch for 5 way pick up combos.
It was a long time ago, early 90’s, but thats how I recall it.
Reverse headstock, i think locking tuners.

It was a dream. Cost me exactly $666 and some cents.

Today, an exact copy bu Keisel (who will still ise Carvin logos if you want) it would be near $2000 r more.

My dream bass to hunt for is a RIGHT hand 4STRING - NECK THRU bass that is in good condition, at least bosy and neck, if I had to do some electrical to it, I can live with it.

In fct, I bought my LTD B-4E because it looked very much like the Carvin guitar I had, and is neck thry.
I love that bass, but still, it is just bot a Carvin.

Congrats to you and your find.
Hopefully, one day, I will find mine.

Note. I always find Leftys, or 5 or 6 strings in good condition at a price I could swallow.
I almost never see 4 strings.
If I do they are beat to shit, or way too much money

Nice! Enjoy it!

What is that?

It is, in fact, neck-thru construction.

The bridge has little places foam adjustable pcs of foam, in the very last picture he posted.
Just so you can easily add muting, similar to sliding a piece of foam under the strings at the bridge that many players have done over the years

Awesome. I am so jealous right now, and i hVe to keep wiping drool from my mouth

You sold it?
I thought you just bought it?

Or do you mean YOUR home IS the NEW HOME

I must day it is DROOL worthy. Love the white pick up.

I, of course, like anything else, just to be different, or just to be me, I would probably change the color of the pick guard.

Maybe a different color pearl design, or even a gold aluminum pick guard.

Desnt have to be TOO visually loud (Well for me it would be, but most people no), but a softer color or pearl design, just not white on cream. I am not a huge fan of that.

I could live with it, being how drool worthy that bass is, but i would feel better with anything. Even if with just DR orange or Red strings on it. Lol

But same idea

It comes with turquoise pickguard but I’m thinking a orange cream pickguard making it a popsicle, lol. I know you’d like that.

Soon I’ll have the pick of custom color pickguards. I hope I could get start on my cnc project soon enough.

Secretly, as I mentioned to you earlier, I was hoping that it would be older but this one doesn’t even have a scratch on it so I’m actually happy. The electronics are flawless.

beautiful neck :+1:

Thanks. It’s the sticky neck. The 90’s neck is the same Birdseye but satin finish. I kinda like it too.

Parts P-Bass I assembled from Squire CV 70’s P-bass body and All-Parts Fender Jazz neck. Added Hipshot Bridge and pickup cover. Thinking of swapping the pickguard to red tort.

And my somewhat newly acquired Gretsch Junior Jet

Sweet. How does the Squier play now?

I like it. After I replaced the bridge I had to shim the neck to get the action as low as I wanted. But I have no complaints other than I wish I could get the darn thing to hang at a better angle.

People rave over the Jr. Jets…how do you like it @Old_WannaBe ?

For $300–its great. Lots of different tones. It actually has some internal resonance and produces some nice acoustic tones. Pickup in the rear growls. Silky smooth glass-like finish on the neck.

I tend to use my Jr. jet for “noodling” while watching TV, getting the kids to bed, etc. and then also for more bass-centric covers such as Royal Blood and Death From Above.

It “feels” much more like a guitar than a bass.

All and all I am happy with it and think its by far the best value in its price range. The Bronco felt like a toy in comparison.
