Thats a nice looking. Link some cover or your own song where you play this one.
Thats what i call porn
It made me get a little turgid in my loins
The “limited edition” colors mean that it is only sold by that retailer. Fender and Squier do this too. In this case GC has the rights to this color. Sweetwater also has some colors specific to them
Enough of that boring stuff. What a great looking bass.
I have the same exact bass! Good choice.
Ah, cool. Thanks for explaining that.
Cool man. How do you like it?
@Pablo wow. Super sexy bass man. Congrats. Now, how about some extra GC coupons for us
Ok. So now that I’ve been playing this thing….just amazing. Great preamp. Hot, fantastic tone. And the really weird thing, makes me want to learn slap. The cover gives your hand a great place to NOT miss and hit the strings and to orient your hand for best slap and pop spot. So, restated the Stu Hamm funk class and man o man, I’m actually slapping shit.
Very happy with this purchase. Pickups and preamp will not (and should not) be changed as they are really great. This is only the second fender product (out of 11) that I’ve left the stock stuff as is.
As a J bass it kicks but and actually love the active circuit.
Cleaned up real nice, was a hot mess. Needed as few resolvers of loose connections but otherwise, a gem. Highly recommend this bass
Definitely a man of good taste @John_E
Yeah … I’m not a big fan of active basses, neither I am about the Jazz Bass, but I must say that the Marcus Miller is impressive. The preamp just brings that power, that percussive and bright attack that lacks on a passive J.
Also despite the new fashion to consider that woods have no role in an instrument made out of wood , maple + ash is a well-know wood combination for that snappy bright tone and behavior, and the Marcus Miller is almost a caricature of this character.
totally agree, and I don’t always say that with Fender pickups
I can understand that. This bass is made for this.
I am not either, but this one is where it does matter for sure.
It’s a thing of beauty @John_E Enjoy!
I’m not a big fan of active basses, except when I am. My Dark Queen with the Darkglass Tone Capsule is where I like an onboard preamp. Most of my other basses are passive.
That cover really promote the Marcus original flying elbow style, yeah man it looks like a proper funk machine.
I like active basses, provided the preamp is good. Generally, I am a preamp geek, and onboard is a fine place to put one IMO… as long as it does something interesting.
I will agree that 2-bands are not good options though, much prefer passive to a 2-band preamp. I actually like the 3-band parametric ones most.
And an active/passive switch is a must for me, for active basses.
At first glance, I thought you had an engraved pickup cover.
But no, it was just the rug, tying the room and bass together.
So, I have only been playing bass for a little over a year but I have serious GAS issues!!! I have managed to acquire about 30 basses! (I think I need meds!)
That said, while I actively collect Japanese basses (never new and as vintage as possible), the only bass I have ever bought new was this one… an Indonesian Ibanez. It is a limited edition and the model is very easy to forget (it is an SR5PBLTD). It has a active electronics and is made to an extraordinary degree of quality.
The finish is called Dragon’s Eye. Neat bass. I play it quite a lot.
Nice. The high end SR’s are just fantastic instruments.
Good. Another person with more than me…takes the pressure off.
I do love Japanese basses too. Have 8 of them!
Great to have you here @matt.g.ward.esq
