Yeah that what I figured. I’m so not there yet, lol. Except for intonation double bass is not as forgiving as the EUB. Lol.
Congrats! That’s an amazing looking Instrument. Enjoy it!
What do each of the bows do differently @PamPurrs?
Not much. Some are just better quality than others. Three of them are carbon fiber with white hair. One is brazilwood with black hair. It’s multiple bow disorder.

I picked up this Washburn XB-400 years ago for $59. Now that I know the active pickups are 90% shot, and that it’s impossible to source OEM replacements that aren’t just as old or used, I know why it was inexpensive. But it has a super-fast neck, a pro setup, and good looks. I’ve ordered a modern substitution set of soap bars (Fishman) and expect to be squeezing a little more sound out of this rig soon. The amp is an Orange Crush Bass 100 – I won’t know how good it sounds until I get the instrument issue squared away.
That’s a killer looking combo there @john.kemner.
You are going to love the Fishmans!
Great choice!
I don’t know anything about the Yamaha silent basses. However I have had a Yamaha SLG100S silent guitar for quite a few years. A very lovely instrument that I really should play more often!!
That is sweet looking, Nice choice!
Wow! That’s impressive family my man.
That T-40 and the Rick look so distinct in that collection, as does the Gretsch(?) semi-hollow.
Btw, this is the room outside my itty bitty teensy tiny music room that the kids won’t give up so that it can reach its full potential as a proper music room
Selfish kids!
It’s like there is a teleportation portal… you open the door to GC/Sweetwater/Anderton’s/Thomann’s/… and step right into @John_E 's living room
except without all those pesky guitars
What’s the one center front row??? (That the one with the Fluence pickups??)
Digging the looks of it!
@John_E what pickups did you put on the Fretless Squier?
Ah, John_E, be thankful for your itty bitty teensy tiny music room. I had designs on my eldest son’s old bedroom for me to take over, decorate as I liked, house my computer, etc. I would have put a day bed in there for when a guest needed it.
But he moved back in, so who knows when that will happen! I am currently using about 9 sq. feet in a corner of the dining room for my computer and (admittedly minimal) bass equipment.
The moral is: make sure the kids enter a field they like, but which also pays enough for them to continue to afford and stay living in their own place!
that is certainly a collection!
very nice!
Extremely impressed with the basses, not so impressed by the rug…
