I finally gave into the GAS after nearly 2 years and bought an Omen. The Studio was on sale for nearly the same money, but I really enjoy the appearance of this and will just do a pickup swap later on if I i don’t like the Schecter Diamonds.
This makes my fingers itch…
I love my omen. The stock pickups are pretty good. They can maybe sound just a little bit sterile at the detente settings, but they grind real good if you adjust some. That’s a nice rig you got there!
That is really sharp! Congrats. Love the inlays, and the binding looks great with that color.
Really !? I’m in Tokyo~
Awesome, feel free to PM me if you ever want local help
Thank you !

Yamaha TRBX174 & Ibanez SR505E
Once I get good enough, the 5 string will see some use. Too good of a deal on it to pass up.
The SR500e/SR505e is a great choice. And of course the TRBX174 is probably the best beginner bass you can buy (and frequently gets that rating by reviews).
It has not let me down in anyway shape or form, and somehow stays tuned remarkably well. I think there is no better bass for the price.
Pretty common sentiment, yeah. It’s a winner.
This topic is really really dangerous… I keep adding basses to my wishlist …
That Acoustic though… might be the next purchase.
But… I was considering a 5 stringer for the next purchase … but that’s only after I graduate with my current BTB806MS.
10 year old daughter now wants to do B2B as well, with me… maybe I’ll “restart” with her and see if I improved.
This entire forum is dangerous for the GAS…
Yeah. You get these deals sometimes.
I picked up an '87 Peavey Patriot for $50 CAD
Well, it didn’t take long for GAS Guy to sink his teeth in.
I wanted to add a 5-string to my collection and back in my younger days I had an Ibanez Ergodyne EDC 705. Welp, I found one in great condition on Reverb for a great price. I also took advantage of BOGO sale from String Swing for a pair of hangers.
The Ibanez has one pot that doesn’t work (which I knew that going in). The treble boost/cut doesn’t function, but it sounds fine for now wherever it is. I found some broken solder connections for that pot on the preamp’s board, but the board looks a little burnt there as well. I think I may pick up an EMG BQC HZ setup for it and just swap out everything for that but keep its current passive pickups. The stock Ibanez pickups seem to be close to a P4 size, but I’d have to remove them and measure the cavity. I’d be worried about trying to rout the Luthite body. I imagine it would just melt.
It’s crazy how the Ibanez has more frets and is the same scale, (if I correctly understand that to be nut to bridge) but just looks so much smaller overall.
Oh, for sure! When I hung them both up, my first thought was, “Holy crap the Fender seems huge!” Even though you’re correct. They’re both 34" scale. The Ibanez’s neck goes much further into the body to give it a full two octaves.
I think the monster Fender headstock makes it seem a lot bigger than it is too.
And welcome to the family:
Schecter Stiletto Stealth 5, a nice deal in the form of B-Stock from Thomann. No sign of use or any issues except for a rather flat neck, but it was a good setup overall and didn’t need any additional work once the neck bow was reasonably adjusted.
It’s 35 inches and the B string definition shines compared to the - otherwise superb - TRBX505, especially with a pick. This was the main reason for the purchase, and so far I am very satisfied. It helps that it also looks great
It’s a great instrument, isn’t it?
