Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

@paolo.pfm

It’s a very nice guitar and especially at the price point they’re at. I was very close to buying an Ibanez and opted for the Yamaha instead. I have no regrets.

Howdy Gang! I just picked up the B2B course last week after … 24 years of on-again-off-again attempts to teach myself.

Here’s the bass that started me on the journey (still my only one, take that GAS Guy)

2000 MiM Fender Jazz

with the li’l Blackstar Fly I use for practicing at my desk.

Very nice. Welcome, @devilcrayon. Consider popping over to the Introduce Yourself! (2024) thread to tell everyone a bit about you and what brought you to bass.

Does this one count? It’s a Hofner HCT-SHB that I bought on eBay for not a lot, with the intention of sticking it in the suitcase for my summer holidays! It’s best described as ok’ish. The neck feels quite wide at the nut and gets wider still as you move down the fretboard. While I lowered its action, it doesn’t have a speedy feel, but then I’m not exactly speedy . Plus the tone knob doesn’t really work. Anyway, we’ll see how it goes - I’m planning to take my Scarlett Solo with me, so I might even get a couple of poolside covers in :flight_departure: :pbass: :sunglasses:

Owwwww… don’t provoke the GAS guy…
I did and ended up with 3 basses :innocent:

Welcome sir! Love the colour of that bass!

I would use threaded inserts for the body/neck connection, as the wood screws will only hold for about 3-5 vacations!
Also I would replace the bridge with a top loading bridge, so you have more degrees of freedom when storing the neck - strings get (over-)bend easily in luggage…

Agreed. But…this was a cheap bass and I’m not yet convinced enough by it that I want to invest money into it. It’s a bit sh!t, it neck dives like crazy and the neck feels too wide and clunky… A new bridge, the threaded inserts and a new tone pot would probably cost as much as I paid for it

Do you like the butterfly on it? Someone has glued that on with epoxy, there’s no way it’s ever coming off!

I find the butterfly sticker a reflection of your personality

Sadly, I didn’t stick it there

Dammit, got a new guitar but it accidentally wound up in the wash and shrunk in the dryer. Maybe it’s still playable?

Ooh, I like that! I’ve been eyeing one of these up, but don’t think I’d get it past the CEO…!

Congrats, brother. Mighty fine. I can vouch for the V7. Looking forward to seeing one of your “Al Unchained” cover videos on it. :+1:

Yeah. A pro is offloading these. I was going to pickup the Yamaha but on the drive there I saw that he also had the Sire listed for a really good price so message him how much for both he came back with an offer I can’t say no, :joy:
