Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

I will, but it’s a UPS store, I don’t use my home address for the internet

SM RT!

This is the worse situation, if you are not looking , anything is possible. When you are locked on to a specific instrument it can be safer, :joy:

Man it’s gorgeous! @Wombat-metal.

I find the opposite. I don’t look anymore (less one damn unicorn) and it’s nice when something pops up and moves you vs. that painful longing to get something you “gotta have”.

You now have at least two basses I wish I owned. Beautiful!!!

Sorry the late reply… but I just recently picked up an Ibanez SRMS800, a 4-string version of that with Bartolini pickups. I love it, it’s a great bass. And you’ll pick up the fanned frets in no time… I can switch back and forth between my Ibanez and my Kiesel (a straight fret P bass) with no issue now.

Thanks. I think I’m making better bass decisions these days1

This is exactly where I am. I’m down to already owning my top picks. There’s one or two others I would choose that are extremely rare (and you have one, dammit  ) but when I apply the metric of “ok, which one of these instruments would I sell to make room for a new one?” it is refreshingly clarifying. I know for a fact that when I have more than two basses, one of them becomes a museum piece that I eventually sell. I generally only have room in my life for two main basses and a single guitar.

I actually find this very helpful in evaluating purchase decisions now. “Would I really sell the BB734a for this?” is an amazingly clarifying lens to look at potential basses through.

I think 3 is my magic number, which means when I get my 734 one of the BB300, Reverend, or G&L has to go. That’s going to be a sad day because I really like the sound of all 3. If I’m being honest with myself though, the G&L is getting 90% of the attention, the Reverend gets played in specific circumstances that are getting harder to find (the G&L can do that aggressive dirty sound just fine, even with flats), and the BB gets played when I remind myself that I haven’t played it in a few weeks.

Those are all great instruments, yeah.

Well BB734 is somewhat the same as BB300. So if it’s me that’s the one to go.

The flip side to that though is that I can do almost all of the stuff on the G&L that I can do on the Reverend. At least the 300 is a for real P bass with the authentic P bass sound. It’ll be a coin flip between those 2, which honestly… the 300 cost a third of the what the Reverend cost.

Totally gorgeous looking bass! I’m glad it survived the transportation, the state of that box would have been very worrying

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???

I totally don’t like where this discussion is going! You really think about selling the Reverend?
It is a beautiful bass with a beautiful tone! It’s really special. I would NEVER sell that one…

Don’t do it!!!

Cool bass, and a highly recommended one too going by the reviews

Any updates? I’m really thinking about getting one of their shorties. They’ve got a couple on reverb now I’m drooling over…

Came across this on the local FBM while hunting for amps. Loved the color. Listened to reviews and playthroughs. Tone spoke to me. Decided I needed to snatch this up.

Ibanez SR1600 Premium. Came with the nice Roadrunner gig bag.

So nice compared to the Sire V3P I’ve been playing (9.7 lbs with neck dive while seated). Very light. Super slim neck. Soooo many tone options. Sounds fantastic in active or passive modes. I’m so excited about this.

I will try and get a review up but it’s a fabulous bass. I haven’t felt the need to do any setup to it other than tune, fit and finish are fine. I love the finish; it’s not smooth, and you can feel the grooves in the wood grain which I love.

It’s light, the tuners are precise, it’s well balanced. My only complaint on this model is with the strat pickups there’s no comfortable place to plant your thumb. This would not be true of other pickups.

As far as the pickups, they are balanced. You get clear highs and mids, and a nice deep bass tone. This is enhanced by the DR Hi Beams.

It’s a beautiful instrument to play. If all I had were it and Herbie the Love Bass I would be happy.

Herbie for those who might not be acquainted
