Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

My bass family

  • Squier CV 70 PBass
  • Fender MIM Jazz
  • Dingwall NG3

Very happy with all of them !

Nice! I seriously considered buying a CV 70’s which is very similar to your VM.

But really it’s that Nolly that has me jealous

I changed the Squier description as I have the CV… not the VM (mixing them as they both have great reviews). This is a great bass and I don’t see a gap vs. my MIM, maybe I was lucky but I really enjoy it. With Flats, it brings a very different sound and feel vs. the Jazz

The Dingwall is not needed to be honest, was more an experiment. I like it a lot but for sure is not a must have

Hey there, I have never played a fan fret bass before. What is the deal with those?
Nice looking set you got there!

The concept of fan fret is to replicate the piano approach to bass - the thicker the string, the longer the scale ; this is supposed to create a better tone with long strings still being tight but I guess it is also a matter of taste

It is not a huge effort to adapt from the other ones but maybe this is because I’m not a great player and still look a lot at my fingers

Just in after months and months of waiting. I haven’t ran it through an amp but so far so good except the knobs, the knobs a shit. Wheres the go to place for good knobs?

I’m not in a band… or jamming FT … so right now it fits the bill… at the same time handling all other audio needs too!

Glad I’m not the only one using them… they are actually pretty handy!

Worth watching this video of Sheldon Dingwall explaining the concept behind his basses.

IMHO, Dingwall basses are fantastic.

This video is also super interesting…

To my ear, the Dingwall is #1, and the cheap ā€œRedsubā€ (now rebranded G4M 972) is #2, winning on tone, over the Spector and Ibanez.

I love my Dingwall, there is so much clarity in the notes - as @GGWAW says, a piano-like quality. If you get the opportunity, @Buzzin_Canada-John, I’d recommend trying one!

I was searching Marketplace and saw two mint D-Roc for sale for around 1700$ CAD. I was so tempted, but I’m torn because I really want a Warwick, too.
