Perhaps your a luthier instead of a player…
I am, but I’m trying to be both.
… but I already want to go back to the shop and build a “normal” bass with that Seymour Duncan 90s Music man in it, because that pick up and preamp sound amazing.
It might be possible but clearly your good at building and it sounds like you understand the right tech…
I am trying to think of an older model Fender- a bit like a Rascal or Paranormal I think but with lipstick pickups- is that a thing or am I imagining it?
Epic build man. Interesting choice of pickup location.
What is the blue bass?
It looks like an incarnation of a Fender Marcus Miller jazz base, also looks like 1.5" nut j bass style, 3 knobs what do they do? And is it active?
That is a Fujigen Mighty Power bass from Japan. It is a passive double P and an absolute fantastic bass. @booker_t has it now and if you have any interest in a double P, this is one of the best.
The knobs are V/V/T iirc
I find that one sweet looking bass…
Yeah they are awesome. They used to be affordable too, now they are priced more normally. Very high quality (MIA Fender level, easily).
I have a Fender Marcus Miller mim that is the best mim quality I’ve seen that is nicer than my Geddy mim.
Yours has a Marcus look with that pickguard which definitely draws me to it.
Yours also has very excellent reviews…
Oh I don’t have one, I have just seen them in stores
@booker_t has that one in the pic though!
They are awesome, Fujigen makes really excellent instruments for way less than they are worth.
That said there’s a couple rarer ones I want more. First is the Yamaha SBV-J2, which are unobtainium but (a) are a SBV (which I kind of collect) and (b) have my favorite P pickup of all time. @John_E snagged one, there’s fewer than 100 of these in the world.
Next is the Yamaha BBVIII in red:
but “vintage” Yamahas like this can be hard to find. These were made in like '85.
@Milt I do like that Rascal. Squier is killing it with the Paranormal series.
I’m super happy with it so far. The bass VI body is comfy and the tones are all amazing. Some flats will just be icing on the cake.
They look great together, good choice…
Fender Rascals (at least the older one 2015) have lipstick pickups.
Still 99 out there waiting for you to snag one of them.
