Outstanding color choice, white pickguard+pastel color+maple neck is such the classic Fender look, love it.

It surely looks gorgeous
One of the new colours for the Player II series

Nice selection of basses, I am a big fan of anything that isn’t a ‘classic’ style

pretty much my perfect colours and look. just the one smaaaalll niggle, im not a fan of the plug and cable sticking out of the face, i prefer the cleaner look of it coming out of the bottom and trailing straight down to the floor. minor issue or what! tis indeed a lovely bass tho!

That’s going to mean not looking at a lot of Squier/Fender, Sterling/Music Man etc

Hopefully you’re not playing left handed

That’s why jebus invented the right-angle plug on instrument cables. Looks much nicer when your jack is on the front of the instrument.

haha no, right handed. and yes i have a squier affinity with a plug at the end, and also a right angle plug. so it comes out the end, angles downwards and its hardly on view. i assumed most were like this (newbie) and i definitely prefer it to sticking out of the face, even tho that may still be a right angle plug too.

First post!

Bought it 3 years ago, started learning on the B2B course but got stuck in trying to learn too many things at once.

This year the B2B upgrade motivated me to start from zero and ever since I am advancing pretty quick in comparison. Practicing almost on a daily basis now.

This is my companion:

Fender Corona, CA P-Bass with a Warmouth fretless neck.

FB Market score. Guy is a guitarist, not bass player, and it was just taking up wall space. His price kept dropping, and I snagged it for $350.

Nice find! Great price.

My bass made by my friend Kelvin Daly. Tailored to fit, so the neck and string spacing are smaller than usual. Magnificent feel to it, and very easy to play!

That ain’t nothing but fine, fine, fine!

Not exactly! There’s a youtube video where Carl Thompson explains how it works (Kelvin was an apprentice to him). Its sort of a set neck but instead of the neck glued into a socket the bass body is sort of built in different blocks around the neck.

Well, the bass is on it’s way back to Thomann

All in all, it seemed like a fine instrument, beautiful colours, in tune out of the box… However, there was an impact on the pickguard, that, once seen, was impossible to unsee.

I was offered a discount, but couldn’t agree to it.

I will however try my luck at a local music store that seems to have it in stock. It will certainly be more expensive, but it might be safer, knowing about Fender quality issues

Very sorry to hear, man!

I am not sure I can see what “impact” you talk about… Sending a bass back takes a lot of will power. I might have taken the discount and bought a new pickguard… (given that everything else was good/great about the bass).

Well, it does look like the point of a screw hit the pickguard enough to go to the second layer.

As to finding a pickguard replacement, I tried to look into the subject and concluded that there is no identical pickguard to be had :person_shrugging:

It is a mass produced bass guitar, lots of identical ones to be had, hopefully, without any blemishes.
