I did a blind listening poll on the forum last year, with my Fender MIJ P-bass and my Yamaha BB734a.

100% of the responses thought my Yamaha BB734a was the P-bass, 0% picked the P-bass

and my 734 is what I play most of the time.

The funniest thing is I had replaced the P-bass pickup with an even more vintage P pickup

Official NBD as one got home from Malta couple hours ago. Fender American Vintage II 1966 jazz bass in Sea Foam Green. One has been jonesing for this bass for an awful long time and it’s now discontinued.

One acquired it via one’s wife from the lefty specialist in Tokyo, almost half the price that it was up for in the UK before they discontinued it.

One is very happy.

Sample size was four or five. Still small but more than one.
