Bought this yesterday. Hope they ship it tomorrow. It was online at GC in Marietta, Ga. There is a Burled top SR500E I wanted from Monterey GC but it is listed as great and all the hardware is pitted. Hard pass on that one. Ibanez pickups have never been an issue for me and I like the look versus the Bartolini MKl plain Jane covers.
I went to the Natick, Ma. GC to try one and really like the weight and feel.l as well as the balance. Zero neck drop and the neck is very comfy. I felt like it was telling me to take it home. I left without looking back at it and ordered the quilted SR400 in the pic. Would have liked the abalone inlays that some have but I am not looking at them while playing anyway, so it really does not matter. Description said like new with no dings or scratches along with no visible wear at all.
Hi! I started to play bass a little longer than a year ago and bought this nice Ibanez SR300. I love it, but at this time, I didnt know there would be passive and active basses… This one is active. Now as a second bass I’d like to get a passive Fender and I started to look around. But I cannot really understand what is the differences between Jazz / Precision / Vintage etc…. Can someone help understand?
When I’m ready to buy a Mayones Ori, I have every intention of having pics of some of your collection on standby to show my wife how reasonable I’m being.
“Vanessa look at how many basses this guy has. If I get another, I’ll still have nowhere near that many. So is it okay if I get that precision/jazz/stingray/PJ/literally any other bass (delete as appropriate)”
Yeah, the Ori is a decidedly sharp and angular departure from what has earned Mayones its reputation for ultra-smooth and ergonomic stlyle. Yet, I imagine it’s still very comfortable to hold and play, because that’s what Mayones excels at. I’d love to hold one to feel how it plays.
That said, its Japanese-influenced design aesthetics make it my least fave Mayones model, but to each his own.
