Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

I totally believe it, the 500 sounds great too.

One thing I absolutely love about these is that the 500, 550, J1 and J2 have these ridiculously good ceramic pickups which really bring out the mids and highs in the tone without losing any lows where it matters (in the low mids). They just sound awesome, especially for aggressive styles but also more or less any lead bass sound.

Unfortunately the 800MF has different pickups, AlNiCo ones that are slightly more mellow. This is actually why I sold mine, despite being a huge Miki Furukawa fan - it sounded great but just didn’t have the same special sauce of the other models.

Please don’t get @booker_t involved. He’s a fantastic guy but one of us will end with a Fodera.

It’s like those adverts you see on the local buy and sell giving away an upright piano for free. It’s free because you can’t give those old things away.

I mean I’d take the FGN obviously

I mean come on now, check out this tone she gets

that’s pretty damn punchy for a J

Man, I really need to find one of these to try out. I love the look but of course it’s all about feel and how it plays. BiLT would be nice, too. If I had the money to order one I’d have to call and see if they would let me come try them out. They’re only a couple miles from me.

I’ll put your name on an SBV, mine goes on the Baum for sure pls, that thing is awesome.

I really wish we could all pile our basses in our cars/trucks/etc. and do a giant meetup of bass shennanigans

Picked up this Squire 70s classic vibe jazz bass today. Excited to put it to good use!

My first bass. Still love it. Modded everything on it and is outstanding.

171 kickstarted my obsession with the SBV series. Glad to see them getting some attention.

Baum have a 45 day money back guarantee.

But you’ve got to pay the shipping back to Denmark.

I love mine but it might not be right for you. It’s a lot of money.

For me it was Supercar, still my favorite band here. Love Polysics too, my current SBV-550 is exactly like Fumi’s seafoam green one.

171 is great too though, love their overall quirkypunk thing.

That strap is perfect for it. Who made it?

There’s a used black Nidhogg at a GC in Chicago for $1149.99. Easiest way would probably be to have them ship it to my local store. I like the green better, but it’d be a way to try it out and shipping would be much less than Denmark. I am somewhat concerned about the ergonomics of no forearm contour or belly cut. Forearm contour would be the biggest issue for me.

The Wingman has a forearm contour.

I think they’re not making any more of the Wingman as they’re teasing a new Bass design with a P Bass style pickup on their Instagram page.

it was a custom made - which is her thing. You tell her what you’re looking for and send a pic of the bass and she gets creative. Iterative process. was fun

I do like the Wingman shape better. I just love the Mamba Green color better, which wasn’t available for the Wingman. A P bass option would be awesome, or a PJ. I bet they put it in a Celestor body. The Stone Blue and Amber Gold would be great color options as well.

Holy tintinabulation, Batman!

New bass day for Tim.

Spector Bantam 5.

Edit: I guess this means I’ll be starting the course over again once again… I need to retrain my hands from standard scale 4 string to medium scale 5 string.
