I work in education. You’d be surprised how much more chill the boys get, and how much nicer the girls are, when I wear a pink shirt to work. A red shirt, by contrast, seems to set them off a bit. I think whoever “discovered” color theory was truly on to something.
In color psychology, red is a primal stimulant. Pink very definitely is not.
From a strictly personal perspective, I much prefer red. Pink doesn’t do anything for me. But to each his own.
I get that. Used to hate pink in my younger days. The red shirt I don’t wear a lot for that reason (primal stimulant), although I just appreciate being able to wear something other than the typical corporate white or sky blue, you know? They also absolutely love the black shirts. Why, though, I haven’t figured out yet. Black jacket? Nothing. Black shirt? Comments galore.
Black shirts make a statement. Even button-downs have attitude.
I like rocking red shirts, but I’m not a teacher.
Pink could mean I like pink and don’t care what anyone thinks but in a fun way, or it could mean I love both my sisters who survived breast cancer. Take you pick.
If ESP made basses in twinkle pink I would have one.
Simon Gallup played a pink Schecter for a bit. I would love to have any one of his signature Spitfires, but this pink one is my favorite.
I have 2 daughters, I love Pink. Before kids I’m a Red guy or Burnt Orange.
Burnt orange is the University of Texas Longhorn color. Another reason for you to move to Austin, @Al1885.
I’ve got no kids but I do have a lady who loves pink.
Pink floats her boat. Not so much for my dinghy.
Texas Longhorn Softball team was my favorite, I followed their games for a few years after Athens Olympic.
That is fantastic. Very ESP Stream like vibe there.
Here’s my setup in my bassment.
- 2008 Squier VM '70s JB
- 2008 Dean Zone ZOXMB
- Yamaha TRBX504
My daughter gave me the Squier for Christmas (along w/ a Fender Rumble 25) a couple of years ago. She knew I’ve always wanted to learn to play bass, and this was the perfect present. It’s what got me to join BassBuzz and become a badass bassist! I’ll never get rid of it for those reasons.
The Dean I picked up at an estate sale. My wife and I like going to estate sales around us and have picked up many items at great deals this way. The Dean is an inexpensive bass that they were taking offers for. I offered $60 and they called me the next day to say I won it! I was pleasantly surprised by just how well it played after some new strings and a bit of tweaking. It’s the bass I have been learning how to maintain them all.
The Yami I bought from a local guy that used it sparingly for a few months when recording in his home studio (he’s a guitarist and keyboard player). He used it for a couple of months and packed it up, and it was sitting in it’s box for a few years, and he decided to sell it. While I don’t care for the color, I LOVE playing it - it my favorite to play. Took it to a luthier to have it set up (before I was sure of my own abilities), and it’s usually the first one I reach for to play.
I also have a Peavey TKO 115S and a Zoom B1X Four to mess around with.
After rediscovering my love for bass over the last few months I finally did it and aquired my dream bass! It’s a Sterling by Music Man S.U.B. Sting Ray 4 MG and I just love how it sounds and feels and looks and everything about it! I’m so happy I finally did this. :]
Love the color. Congrats!
Very nice!
Sweet! that color even matches your door!
So do I! I wanted to get a more funky and spacey design.
I was able to sit down with a Rascal today. It’s not for me because of the size, but I bet for people who play full scale normally it is probably the perfect short scale to buy. It’s a very unique hybrid.
The sound though? Amazing. If they put these same humbuckers in a true short scale, I’ll gladly give them lots of money.
The Rascal also looks great in person. It’s incredibly well made. The nicest Squier I saw today.
Do you normally play short scale basses?
