:joy: @John_E

So well organised @terb it certainly puts me to shame.
I’m sharing my practice space with an impact driver, a reciprocating saw, a brush cutter, a chainsaw and a Harley wheel that needs a new tyre at the moment!

Very nice, @papkerry . . .

I like the amp, too!

Looks really neat! However I have read that basses ( or any other instrument) should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long duration. So maybe you would do better to keep your bass on the other side of the amp… :+1:

I was not aware Joyo made a Hartke knockoff XD

this thing with sunlight is for instruments with nitrocellulose finish, which tends to become yellowish with ultraviolet exposure. it can really change the color over time. other finishes are way less prone to this phenomenon.

For example, here is the normal Fender “Lake Placid Blue” color :

and the same color when a nitrocellulose finish has been exposed to the sun for a long time :

actually I prefer the second one … which looks pretty close to the “Race Green” I have on my lastest Stratocaster :v::grin:

yes and sadly flourescent lighting can be equally or even more damaging over time as well.

oh I didn’t knew about that ! what about LEDs ?

Very bad for filming yourself. Too many visible wrinkles. I prefer a softer diffused light

My '95 Strat Plus with a poly finish has noticeably yellowed compared to a new guitar in the same color (Arctic White).

That said, this isn’t the same sort of aging that @terb talks about. It’s the paint dyes themselves vs the finish, as it’s polyurethane and not nitrocellulose.

Not my guitars. Left is a few months old, right is 25 years, both Arctic White:

My Strat Plus, which is whiter than the other one about the same age:

I got mine several years ago and have no idea on its history other than the case reeked of cigarettes. It also lived in a case for several more years after I got it, too, so that likely explains why it isn’t quite as yellowed.

I’m also replacing that pickguard, not nearly as cool as I thought it would be lol… But I digress XD

Tbh I don’t know how other finishes would fade under a poly clear, though nitro will definitely turn into a creamy to outright yellow color a lot faster/more noticeably for sure, as evidenced by that Lace Placid Blue comparison (and pics easily found for old white guitars)

As for Arctic White, that 25 year old bass resembles the actual color of some polar bears.

Thanks guys
But…
Yeah, well my lawyer made me reschedule the surgery from March 4th to April 1st. I will be doing some court stuff. I just hope to not be taken into Federal custody anytime from now to March 14th or 22nd and can follow thru with the surgery on April 1st.

Bloody hell mate @T_dub . Hope all the court stuff goes well for you

Thanks, I think I am going to be ok for a while, and remain out on bond waiting sentencing for a good long while, but you never know.

I’m just glad to see you back here man. Dislike when our folks have troubles.

Yeah, troubles suck, but the way I see it, I just turned 50, so I already had an extra 23 years cuz everything after 27 was a bonus.
Fortunately instead of me dying at 27, which was the way I was headed, I had my first baby girl at 27, and it changed everything.

pretty cool how that works!

Thanks for that. I will move it to a new spot
