Levy’s reversible.
My Strap. I got it from Amazon. It’s nice and thick and padded. Also, as an extra, it comes with a pick holder. I have never attempted pick playing as of today.
I read this before looking at the picture first and for a moment I thought you had a Trogdor strap, and got jealous
This is on a new to me P5 I got a deal on. I decided after having some big, thick straps to go with a 2.5” Moonphase one from Levy I’d been looking at. It’s really just enough in terms of width and padding for me with the Sire, and matches the look I’m going for with it.
I don’t think I’ve posted these here, so…
I brought these 3 Franklin straps with me when I moved to France 5 years ago.
I recently bought these 3 Right On! straps from Spain. Check out the strap names: Fakey Black, Fakey Brown and Fakey Light Brown. I did not understand the names because I read them as “Fake-y”. Only after I received them, did I ask myself what was the difference between their solid black and their fakey black. The bass clef logo. What note does it highlight? The “F” note. Then I smacked my forehead when I realized that Solfège for “F” is “Fa”, so the name means “key of Fa”. So it’s “Fa-key” and not “Fake-y”. Damn clever if you ask me.
Very clever. ![]()
How to they hold up to regular use? Are they flexible enough that you don’t notice them through a shirt? How easy are they to remove if necessary?
Nice bass.
very flexible, but I imagine they will leave a very sticky residue if you wanted to remove them, but I’m sure there is some kind of soap or solvent that could remove that. It has helped a lot with my minor neck dive with a couple basses. I don’t notice them at all through my shirt.
Belated Update: My dear friend gifted me a second gorgeous Pinegrove strap when I received my Mayones Jabba custom build. He thoughtfully ordered this one to compliment its red and warm Swamp Ash color scheme.
(The crease in the thick leather was from the strap having been folded for shipping. It has long since disappeared after hundreds of hours of playing.)
That strap is a perfect color for that bass. ![]()
Pinegrove is an English company that makes handmade straps. I have owned several straps, but none has come close to the comfort of a Pinegrove.
They are pricey, but so are basses. It’s all about comfort while playing, i.e., eliminating annoyances and distractions in order to play better. These straps achieve that goal.
I’ve been wondering if you liked the Right On! straps, as I’ve been feeling quilty for introducing them to you.![]()
Hope that you enjoy them as much as I do?
The naming is clever, and I wouldn’t have figured it out myself, so thanks for sharing the explanation.
They’re really comfortable and I like the clever length management design a lot. Zero complaints. Again, thanks for the heads-up. I’m happy to support small European music businesses. OK, so Mayones in Poland and GR Bass in Italy aren’t small, and Thomann is ginormous, but most of the rest are mom and pop businesses. Lignum in Croatia. Henrix Guitars in Germany. Right On! in Spain. Instrument stores in France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Italy, Czechia and Estonia. I have spread my euros around. The beat goes on!
I’m glad to hear that you like them as well. Like you I also find it good to support small businesses, that delivers great quality products.
14 month wait - Carlito Guitars Gene Simmons strap. He’s the guy that actually made/makes all the straps for Gene, Paul and Ace. He’s 78 now and works verrrrrrrrrrry slooooooooow.
This one is period correct for when Gene used the Gibson Ripper bass. So - I kinda had to.
Quality is off the hook. It’s my second strap (and probably my last) from him.
Is it comfortable?
Totally. Super super soft leather
That is amazing!
Orange is the way!
