Obviously it would be too many to list. My top 2 would be Simon Phillip and Todd Sucherman.
Hideki Aoyama and Akane
Stephen Morris, Grant Hart, Fumiya Morishita, Pretty Purdie
most recently though @sfadams because he sent me a free drum track.
Mickey Dee, Philthy Animal Taylor and Neil Peart
Wow!
Haha, was going to say that (but was still watching)!
Very nice, @sfadams!!
Seriously his polyrhythms on the kick broke my brain. Totally awesome.
I should have added to my lesser known but excellent drummers, Yoshiki-san of X-Japan
Lots of other drummers I think are awesome - Budgie, Dave Grohl, Hana Sano, Akane Hirose, Lol Tolhurst, Bun E. Carlos, Kevin Haskins, Dominic Howard, Doktor Avalanche (haha), etc
Akira Jimbo oh yeah!
Stewart Copeland!
For me Gene Krupa, Nicko McBrain and Neil Peart
Chad Smith, Travis Barker, Dan Kerby, John Bonham (o’course), Stuart Copeland… just for starters.
Aric Improta plays a 30-minute drum solo here. I promise that even non-drummers will be transfixed for the whole piece:
probably no vids on earth of her, but the one that made the biggest impression on me was lynn perko from the dicks (and later imperial teen). not that she was the most technically proficient drummer, although she was good. really it was because she just looked like she was having sooo much fun when she played.
if you want proficient i guess we can’t say peart anymore so i will go with bill bruford.
This rules! Congrats, dad.
In no particular order…
- Mick Fleetwood
- Manu Katche
- Dave Grohl
- Ian Paice
