Song 1 - "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd

Maybe should clarify. First attempt at uploading a cover. Not first attempt at the line. Kinda learnt it years ago on a guitar when I got bored with the guitar parts so didn’t take long to get ‘under the fingers’ on a proper instrument. But thx :+1:

Bad rhythm, sloppy technique, and recording audio using a phone. Nothing like recording yourself to kill your confidence  Far from perfect, but I wanted to move on to other songs, so I figured I’d post it. Overall I’m still happy with how far I’ve come since I started playing 2.5 months ago.

I’m tuned to DGCF, before anyone questions my fretting lol

@FlyingTacoMoose - for starters, we don’t care about recording quality.
Secondly, but the first rule of bass club - don’t put down your recordings, instead post and allow for constructive feedback.

Lastly, and most importantly, you are wrong sir! I did not hear sloppy, or did I see sloppy.

And really lastly - you cannot criticize after 2.5 months playing, but what you can do is accept a compliment in the fact that you are playing very well for 2.5 months!!! keep em coming!

Thanks for the encouragement! Don’t worry, self-depreciation is just my sense of humor :joy:

After doing song #2 first, I’m back to finish song #1. Tried to record this yesterday but it turns out being hung over adds a big challenge.

My timing was a little sloppy in places, and I need to work on flat fingers, but overall I’m pretty satisfied with it.

For comparison’s sake, I started the course 5 weeks ago and I’m at Module 9, Lesson 6.

Now for some Gnarls Barkley.

Hi all, let me share my take on this. I hope the timing is right, I’d love to get some feedback on the timing.

Nice job @bora

Timing is good but articulation (note length) is a bit different than played in the choruses here…

The notes are shorter but held until the next note.
If there was a dot under them or a rest, than they would be played staccato as you did.

Otherwise, AWESOME JOB!

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I was a bit worried about my timing. Looks like songsterr is not accurate, it showed staccatos, but I don’t mind if the timing is right!

Josh has sheet music on the site which was carefully transcribed and some of the best tabs I’ve seen for accuracy.

Sounds good!

Timing sounds good to me. Love the tone too.

Other than the staccato it sounds great. Sometimes if I follow a tab from online or a youtube tutorial, I try to get an isolated bass track and listen to it as I follow the transcription along to make sure it sounds like the original bass.

Does anyone still have a link to the 5 string conversion tabs? The one that’s on top of the page no longer works.

I was able to find it on Ultimate Guitar.

Here’s my first song. Made some mistakes towards the end because I just switched my brain off, but I decided not to re-record.

The biggest challenge was figuring out how to actually record myself and edit with the audio and video synced.

Well done @THRILLHO !

Well done @THRILLHO uber high in the mix but that’s ok.

Bass playing great!

tone great, timing great, well done.

I figured I’d put myself higher in the mix because the point is to hear/critique my playing rather than to make the whole piece sound good.

IMO it becomes more distracting, while you don’t want to bury yourself, the whole point is to sound good, in a song format (unless your Victor Wooten perhaps ). And since we are all focused on listening to the bass, no need to put it so high.
