Song 1 - "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd

Well, finally got around to the first song in the list! I had been saving some of the lower digits for later (to give myself time to work on the harder songs), but did it today since I’m 3 months into the challenge.

Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2

May I please be permitted to share links? I recorded song #1 and would like to show and tell

I think link sharing comes with how long you been active on the forum… reflective of ‘trust level’ … most likely to combat spam… and other nefarious activities.

I am sure @Gio could explain it better.

I would maybe spend a bit of time getting familiar with the forums… maybe post an introduction as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I asked a question about song 2 and making that second post promoted me to a higher trust level. I think I’ll be able to post the link to my video now! Introducing myself in that thread isn’t a bad idea though!

Something you will notice about this community… we don’t chase ‘perfection’ this place is all about learning… so long as we are moving forward… all that matters… just about every one of my vids has fumbles in em… LOL I care not

I can make another vid down the road and see improvements later

Point being… don’t feel you ‘have’ to be perfect… no one is.

I go for passable, which still usually takes 10 failed takes. :upside_down_face:

Welcome to the world of covers @izzybella
Overall well done for #1. Listen back for some minor timing blips and note lengths. This comes with time and will improve the more you record and watch yourself.

Again. Fantastic start! Keep them coming !!

First attempt at this, so should be interesting. Already been blocked twice. Hopefully it’s visible.

Didn’t have a video so created this quickly for upload.

Hey all, I just finished the course after about a month and a half, so I’m moving on the the 50 Songs Challenge.

At the beginning of most bars, the sheet music starts with a dotted quarter note into an eighth note, but on the track it sounds more like a quarter note with an eighth note rest into the eighth note. Is the sheet music wrong or do my ears deceive me?

its called a 'staccato" note. the note lasts the length of the note (ie a quarter note) but you mute the note straight away so it doesn’t keep ringing. it does sound like you said but a staccato note isn’t a set length and can be held slightly longer or shorter depending on what the song calls for whereas eighth and quarter notes are set lengths according to the beat.

hope this helps :+1:

Amazing
