Song 14 - "Blitzkrieg Bop" by Ramones

That sounded perfect, like the tone a lot!

Some of these pictures are like Norman Rockwell on acid or something.

That’s how Dee Dee did it, pretty intense. I can’t keep up downpicking, tried the other day for fun.

This was excellent, great tone and timing. It’s interesting to see what the AI is coming up with as well. You’re on a roll Johnny!

Nice job keeping up on this one! This video will probably get blocked soon, you can post it to Vimeo if it does.

Good job maintaining the chug.
One tip, for the jump to lower notes etc - start moving a hair quicker to get there in time. The prior note won’t mind, it will still get played. Lol

This doesn’t seem a particularly popular song on the 50 list…anyway, here’s my entry! I like it ‘cos I’m kinda of the age where I vaguely remember punk the first time round

Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop

Hohner ProfessionalB Bass into the Ampero, then on into GarageBand. Bass track was doubled, hell no, tripled as I wanted it LOUD!!

60 yrs old, new to both bass and Bassbuzz, on module 6 of the B2B course. i thought id try and get one song dialled and love blitzkreig bop so thats my goal alongside the course.
couple of questions… ive found the tab in the ‘50 songs’ section so can work on that, starting slow and hopefully building up. ive also been watching your videos ^^^.
i notice that some of you play different strings/frets to the tab so just wondered why. just preference? for instance the last video i think played an open A instead of E5. a couple of others were sliding down to A2 instead of E7. it just seems easier to keep everything in that 5-7 block, so curious as to why the differences.
last question. how are you playing along to the actual song? just finding it on spotify say and playing along? the tabs on here are just the tabs, no other instruments or vocals, so i just wanted to check im not missing anything and there isnt a ‘bassless’ version of it on here somewhere to add your bass to when playing.
thanks

There is no “right” way to play this song, it all comes down to what is comfortable. The song is fast - 177bpm. For me, it was what is the easiest transition from the A to the D, then to the G? Playing an open A facilitated that, as I wasn’t crossing strings. I also think it looks more “punk” , compared to playing in a tight little box around the 5th fret :joy:

I use Moises (app on my iPhone) to split the track out, enabling the removal of the original bass line. Moises is a fantastic practice tool. For recording, I then export the split tracks (generally, vocal, guitar, other instruments and drums) into GarageBand, then record my version of the bass line into GarageBand, again on my iPhone. You will need an interface (e.g. a Scarlett Solo) to take the signal from the bass and push it into what ever app you are using (e.g. GarageBand on an iPhone or computer). There are other threads on this forum that talk you how to do this.
