Greetings, Itās been a hectic week. On Monday my Dad passes away he was Vaccinated but still got Covid, heās no longer suffering may he Rest in peace. It may be a month or longer to lay him to rest. Sorry for being a downer. I would like to say to everyone Happy Thanksgiving My Brotherās and Sisters@ Bassbuzz be safe out with your familyās and donāt let your guard down. Been so busy with Aris Cohort and other thing in life.
Hereās my take on Stevie Ray Vaughan / crossfire. Not perfect but I tried in these circumstances.
Music Soothe the soul. God bless everyone .
Condolences about your dad @BigAl, so sorry to hear.
Music is indeed good for the soul, and your soul is grooving on that bass.
You did a GREAT job on this.
Always like to see your covers and your awesome basses.
Nice growl on that bass!
Thank you , @John_E, my friend for your Kind words.
Hey @BigAl really sorry to hear about your father. As usual I always enjoy your videos; I really like the tone on this one. Perfectly suited for the song. I waited until the end and wasnāt disappointed
My condolences @BigAl! Great cover!
Great job @BigAl . Condolences on your loss.
Really sorry to hear about your Dad, I hope you were able to spend a bit of time with him before he passed. Great job on that. Iām playing with this one - Itās a lesson in perseverance playing that groove over and over and over. It gets fast at the end too and you did a great job adjusting to the timing. Awesome
Condolences to you @BigAl
Stellar job on Crossfire. Iām a huge fan of the late SRV and you did him justice with this cover.
Here is an abridged version! I enjoyed this one.
Very nicely played, @Bassdacious . . .
You have great fingering, are in time . . . and show a good ābass faceā , too! . . .
Cheers
Joe
Nice to see you @Bassdacious.
You have been practicing!!
Fantastic fingers there, looking like a pro!
Thanks Joe - I need to work on the bass face ā¦ sometimes I think itās too much of a RBF
Thanks @John_E - been doing Ari Capās Cohort and that has helped a great deal. We are doing blues and Mixolydian this unit and this song just fits right into that scene! Cheers
One thing about these Forums is that Iām learning a lot more of these āUrban Dictionaryā entries!
They say itās hard to teach an old dog new tricks . . . and I believe theyāre right
Cheers
Joe
I had no idea either @Jazzbass19 Joe
Going back to my first bass, Squire Jazz (although the only original parts are the neck, body and pickguard (with blackened out edge).
This is still one of my favorite basses.
Still a little VT Bass DI SVT used.
More bridge than neck, tone up and mids boosted a bit.
Sounds great @John_E! Very nice playing and timing. I really like the way your tone cuts through the mix on this one. Iām finding myself starting to dig the Jazz Bass sound more and more these days.
Hey all, hereās my SRV cover, fun little groove. I skipped over this one originally because I have some kind of irrational hatred for retuning. Was able to hack Floyd and Nirvana and do them in standard, but not this one. The Aerosmith song I covered a few weeks ago ended up being in Eb, and that pushed me to get over it. Maybe some VH and GNR covers coming soon while Iām down here Thanks for listening
