Song 37 - "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac

Been a while since I posted a cover, so, seeing that its slightly over a year that I picked up the bass again and started Josh’s course, I decided to re-tackle a song that I first attempted about 9 or 10 months ago. So, I guess you could consider this a bass-iversary video.

My first attempt at this song was audio only, I didn’t remove the original bass track that time around. Instead (if I recall), I split channels left and right for original and my playing. The result that time was overall ok, but it was difficult to fors listeners to hear the differences between my playing and the original recording, especially if not listening in headphones.

This time I used tools and methods I’ve been working on since I started. Overall the result is good, I think, but I still need to work on my video skills (and buy some decent video software - the free ones I’ve found for windows have been rather limited and lacking)… and certainly my “presence” needs some work. Some minor flubs near the end and a couple re-audio recording takes this time around to fix up some mistakes.

This take on the song does not strictly follow Josh’s Noteflight tabs, instead this came from a mash-up of the first way I learned the song from a YouTube video, tabs found on UG, Josh’s tabs and my own ear.

Recorded with Darkglass Harmonic Booster, Darkglass Microtubes Infinity and Zoom B1 Four (for the ZNR noise-gate) into my NUX MPP-3 for IR, AMP and audio interface.
