Re posting here from the ‘Covers’ thread because I didn’t realize this was on the list, oops.

Another old school classic, that’s a ton of fun to learn. I grew up in a house of classical music and trad jazz on the record player. No Fleetwood Mac in sight. But those of a certain age will know, that every Sunday they used this as the theme song for F1 motor racing. This tune is chemically etched into my brain from childhood.
For those just starting out, I’m a little over a year learning Bass including completing the B2B course. Cheers Amigos.

HX Stomp geeky stuff:
Compressor: Line 6® Original Deluxe Compressor.
Amp: Ampeg SVT-4 PRO
Cab: 1x12" Sunn Coliseum
Modulation: Retro Reel Line 6 Original

The kayaking stuff is some old GoPro footage I shot with some old friends when we went to Mexico a few winter’s ago.

Here is my take on The Chain. What a legendary outro on this song, I’ll even grant a pardon on the fade-out here. Thanks for watching!

I was interning in a studio in Thousand Oaks, Ca. and the engineer was working with Mick Fleetwood and he came in the studio. HE IS TALL!!! Very nice man. Was driving a Mercedes that probably cost more than my house! Love the Mac since the early 70’s.

Love the outro on this song! P Bass back in action here.

Been a while since I posted a cover, so, seeing that its slightly over a year that I picked up the bass again and started Josh’s course, I decided to re-tackle a song that I first attempted about 9 or 10 months ago. So, I guess you could consider this a bass-iversary video.

My first attempt at this song was audio only, I didn’t remove the original bass track that time around. Instead (if I recall), I split channels left and right for original and my playing. The result that time was overall ok, but it was difficult to fors listeners to hear the differences between my playing and the original recording, especially if not listening in headphones.

This time I used tools and methods I’ve been working on since I started. Overall the result is good, I think, but I still need to work on my video skills (and buy some decent video software - the free ones I’ve found for windows have been rather limited and lacking)… and certainly my “presence” needs some work. Some minor flubs near the end and a couple re-audio recording takes this time around to fix up some mistakes.

This take on the song does not strictly follow Josh’s Noteflight tabs, instead this came from a mash-up of the first way I learned the song from a YouTube video, tabs found on UG, Josh’s tabs and my own ear.

Recorded with Darkglass Harmonic Booster, Darkglass Microtubes Infinity and Zoom B1 Four (for the ZNR noise-gate) into my NUX MPP-3 for IR, AMP and audio interface.

Excellent work man!

Great job, your presence is fine and dandy.

Bass is a bit high in the mix but otherwise fine tone aside.

A compressor plugin will even out the dynamics but that is only if you care to dial things in.

Davinci Resolve is the best (and free) video editor, if your computing power can handle it. Makes fixing flubs a breeze as well as auto syncing video and audio.

All that said I think you did great!

Thanks, I’m probably my own worst critic in this regard (like many others I assume)

Intentional, as these are bass covers, but I agree.

The Darkglass Infinity has one built in, as does the Zoom…. I’ll have to play with them a bit more.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll download and check it out!
Thanks also for the feedback, I appreciate it all.

You nailed that @brik1970 and dialed in nice tone too. Congrats on year one!

Not the best video this time, but I think the playing is ok. A bit high in the mix maybe?

Really well played man! You looked like you were really grooving at the end.

Davinci resolve is neither. A bit of a learning curve tho. I hear shotcut is good too, but I’ve never tried it. There’s always this:

Nicely done. Maybe a bit high in the mix, but these are bass covers, I want the bass to be higher in the mix.

Hello, I’m trying to learn the Formula 1 outro to this song before the first race in March, but I can’t get any sound on my iphone when I pull up Josh’s link. Can on my other mac products. Any suggestions? I did use the search function and nothing came up. Thanks forum!

For years the bass outro was the main theme to Formula 1, sorry not to give that context for bassists who don’t follow the sport

The tone in the first few notes in this BBC intro from 1979 is so good.

Amazing! Thank you for sharing, that’s an awesome cover. There’s a 12th fret on a bass? And people use it? Crazy. I have so much to learn.

It most certainly is free and it is really good.
The free version of Davinci is more than anyone will ever need.
I took a $14 Resolve class but honestly there is not much to learning the basics.
As a matter of fact they are taught here…
