Yeah! These are coming out! I’m always surprised a little when I see my numbers.

Here’s my Deezer stats, would have to add YouTube to those

The songs are part of a Blues playlist I needed for practice :person_shrugging:t3:

Hmm yeah this sums it up nicely  My bass playing definitely impacted my listens this year.

Except Madonna - I’d forgotten I had a phase earlier in the year where I obsessively listened to her early stuff.

Apparently January was my Goth Metropopolis Synthpop phase :sunglasses:

My biggest surprise this year is that I listened to that much Spiritualized. That and 726 artists… ADHD ftw.

This is fun to see.

The artists are no surprise, that’s very much who I listen to all the time.

Top songs, one of them I covered this year and the other four are songs I have been practicing. I’m not really a huge fan of that Bastille song, but I’ve got the bass part down and the drum part down. I just keep practicing it because my wife promises me that she will do a cover of it with me.

Top albums, I just looked it up and you only have to listen to the full album 3.68 times to get to 538 minutes.

I went through a bit of a maneskin phase earlier in the year. Especially when I was running. I’m still a big fan, but have moved onto other things. Also, the AI dj thing on Spotify sometimes plays stuff I skip over pretty quickly. But, sometimes it’s nice not having to figure out what to play. I looked through my most played songs and it was an interesting mix. I’ll post that link too. Apparently I can’t decide what I want to listen to.

I was a little shocked at my mix this year. Had to get to #42 before hitting a native English speaker. My hunch is I listen to such a variety that the frequent playlists get to the top easier.

3,247 songs and 28,818 mins

Cool to see The Brook and the Bluff on there. They are from my hometown. Good stuff!

@MattyD - are you on a Philip K. Dick themed listening kick??
I did double takes on those artist names!!

Hahaha yea I think they are related but I’m not a Japanese speaker or native so I don’t know the full details. I just bumbled into them on Spotify and they are my favorite at the moment. Appar VALIS is a group of singers who didn’t make the cut to be solo acts. They are like my Voltron of music. So much harmony and the way the songs are produced sounds so amazing to me.

But yes the novels are on my short list to read as well.

Honorable mentions that didn’t make it into the top 5: NOFX, Gnome, Måneskin, Linkin Park, Bruno Mars, Gogol Bordello, The Warning, Days N Daze, Stan Rogers, Green Lung, Bones UK, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and a ton more. Spotify says I listened to over 1000 artists this year, which was a little surprising.

Is the dead South the metal band who somehow transitioned to bluegrass?

I hadn’t ever heard that. Wikipedia mentions that two of the members were in a grunge band prior to forming The Dead South, but that’s only sourced from an artist profile on SputnikMusic, so I’m not sure of the original sourcing for whoever edited that profile.

Also, the last few years my top 5 looked much more like yours. Went down a bit of a bluegrass / folk punk rabbit hole this year.

That’s relatable. I’m on a Sierra Hull rabbit hole on YouTube rn after coming across the song she and Cory Wong came up with. I also kind of want to get a mandolin, but I think that would be an absurd number of instruments to try to learn at once.

I thought I came across something about them starting out at a metal band then pivoting when that didn’t work, but maybe I’m misremembering.
