If this topic has many threads already could someone point me in the right direction? I have looked repeatedly and my search skills on this forum are lacking.
I played Rotosounds for many years before parking my bass for decades. Doing fret work on it after sitting for twenty years had me picking up new strings and I figured flat wounds would be worth a try. I had no callouses so it made sense. To my nearly deaf ears there was no difference and I have flats on all three (NO GAS) basses.
I grabbed a set of tape wounds and love them. Easy on the fingers and sounding great has me sold on them. The flat and tape wounds will not show wear on the frets as quickly which for me will be impossible at my age.
I use to be a Rotosound fanboy until I discovered DR Sunbeams which are my favourite strings (I prefer the feel of round cores), I also use Daddario NYXL strings which I find are also very good. I think both brands are higher quality compared to Rotosound and I’ve never had a bad string from either company, I can’t say the same for Rotosound.
If using on a mobile device or tablet, I recommend getting the Discourse app. You can then add any forums that use Discourse as the engine, like B2B and JustinGuitar, etc. It works very well.
The Search icon is the magnifying glass at the top of a forum page. This is the standard search icon position for most any forum.
As noted by others, if you’re viewing this forum on a relatively smaller phone, the icon might not display.
However, this is what a forum page looks like on an iPhone Pro Max 16 held in vertical/portrait mode (red circle around search icon added for illustrative purposes):
I like EB Power Slinky(purple) for the T-bird and have it detuned a half step. The Pbass still has the fender strings it came with. I’ll put some EB Super Slinky(pink) if/when I ever need a fresh set. The Telecaster has EB Extra Slinky(blue) Cobalt strings. I like my strings on the lighter side. I feel like it has more expression for vibrato and bends.
