Surprise of 2025: LowEndLobster

Greetings my fellow humbuckers and humdoes,

First of all: No hate, just surprised

I’m a big fan of LowEndLobster’s reviews and insights of various bass guitars.

When I was checking out a bass from another post, I saw a she!

First I thought LowEndLobster’s sister was doing the review, but (being the old school dude I am) I realized much later that he became a she!

Anyway, her studio got a big upgrade afaik from her vids. In any case check her out. She has good insights on a lot of basses.

She also reviews Harley Bentons.

True, but old news around here, where there was zero hate to be found. We’re all happy for her.

Whatever makes a musician happy,……different face, same bass.

Lobster re-debuted mid-2024.

According to Lobster, the elephant in the room were “the glasses” after their channel’s hiatus. I have no problem with ‘the glasses’.

I seriously thought he had a sister :sweat_smile:

Correct, but that was in past tense

The quality of her channel got radically better once she found her glasses.

I’m not joking there, the quality of her content went way up.

She (still) disses the BB735a in a revisit though just recently. I’d say YMMV.

Nobody’s perfect

Yeah I don’t get her opinion there at all

I loved how universally positive everyone’s response on her channel was.

The beard was pretty epic though.

Well, if the transition from beard to glasses is the worst, then nobody has to worry :stuck_out_tongue:

You may or may not agree with her bass opinions, but she really goed in depth (also when she was a he).

I do miss the hirsute Lobster bass nerd, though.

Personally, I’ve never been an aficionado of growing facial hair, but gotta admit Lobster did sport an epic beard in his prime. He even called it out specifically in his old videos’ brand intro.

:man_beard:

Which makes a lot of ironic sense when you look back in hindsight.

In queer culture, a “beard” is an visible, overtly masculine affectation you put on to hide the fact that you’re queer - a macho vehicle, a girlfriend, etc. She literally had an epic beard.
