14 days down already! I’ve managed to squeeze in about 10 minutes of this exercise almost every day. I can definitely feel myself improving, but the real key is staying focused on a light touch and proper hand positioning. I think I’m doing pretty well these days, but it’s tough to be your own judge! Thanks for the challenge, @JoshFossgreen I’m glad I joined in. Now, back to practice to hit that 200 BPM goal and beyond. Gotta finish Hysteria though!
Well done! Going upstairs now to tackle level 4 and see if I can get to level 5 before monday
Thank you! I have no doubt you’ll succeed! Your progress has been incredible. Keep going, you’ve got this!
Can I say that you are all awesome? Well done you guys & girls! These seem like fun things to do once I’m done with the course.
@Johnnyb woooo nice
Day 12 level 4…
Trying to sort out my plucking hand which is kinda all over the place.
Getting much better at 50% , starting to go out of the window at full speed , but still improving.
Going for level 5… which is above my level but gonna try anyway
Sunday bike ride with the boys ends playing bass drunk in the garden
Tomorrow I’ll post the final recordings… …and regret this post😂
Love it @BozzerWolf
@JoshFossgreen So for the final videos we do a bit of each level again? I’ll do mine tomorrow.
Whoaaa nicee
Final day, yesterday, this is how far I got…
First, thank you @JoshFossgreen for making this challenge and everybody that posted their vids here. You have pushed me a bit further and it made some weak spots in my playing visible, which I can now work on.
Some thoughts:
Level4 is hard but doable in the next few days if I keep practising (and I will)
Level 5 is waayy above my comfortzone and level, what you’re looking at is survival mode, I also tried level 5 at 135 bpm in the video and that was a bit better.
I think my fretting is ok (for now), and not my biggest weak spot.
But my plucking is inconsistent, I try alternating plucking and though my eyes are on the fretboard a part of my mind tries to feel what my fingertips are doing on the strings
(just look the mental overload/short circuit look on my face )
But it’s very deceptive , sometimes I think I got it and when I check the video I did not.
Fretting pressure i’m not sure , I guess it’s ok but can be a bit lighter.
But this is only my view, comments/feedback are very welcome and appreciated…
Very good!
The final videos.
The exercises are great, I’ll keep them in my daily routine.
The biggest benefit I’ve got so far, is being a lot more aware of how hard I plug the strings. At slower speed I’ve become a lot more accurate but as soon the BPM increase, I get tense and insecure.
Thanks to all who participated and kept me motivated. And a big “Thank You!” to @JoshFossgreen for being such a good teacher and giving us this great lesson! I’ve made more improvements in this two weeks as in the last two month with my personal teacher…
Thanks
Also congrats on your improvement
@Justyn That is truly amazing
I struggled with my after video today, it was just one of those Bad Bass Days, so I was annoyed I couldn’t play as smoothly/consistently as I’ve managed before (I think you can see it in my face )
That said - it was still good to look back at my ‘before video’ for comparison. I thought @JoshFossgreen was massively exaggerating when he does his terrible flying fingers impersonation, but no, that is what my hands looked like
I really enjoyed the challenge - I now mentally keep checking my fretting pressure and wrist angle to make adjustments and I think my fretting fingers have got a lot neater.
And it was great to see the progress from everyone else
(deleted) I shouldn’t let my ego comment on post’s when I’m already prepared for bedtime. Sorry for the passive aggressive post @Justyn , I just realised how funny your video is. Shame on me.
Well done! Congrats
Congrats, very good!
@BozzerWolf @qenden Really good progress from both of you It was motivating to see how you were both getting on throughout the weeks.
Thank you and congratulations to your progress and the happy faces in the new video!
