Yup, it’s a weird dichotomy. I both love my P bass so much that I want to ruin it for anyone else (I put a ding on the back also), and spent 2.5 hours polishing, moisturizing, tightening and changing strings last weekend to make sure I got every nook and cranny on it.
I was so happy to get my pristine TRBX604 used when I got it. The day I got it, while changing strings, I put a big scratch right on the front. Didn’t go through the paint, but was there. I learned a big lesson then - the wear we add just makes it ours
That thing sort of terrifies me. One that it exists as an affront to all that’s right and pure, and two that I wouldn’t mind messing around with it.
So for my sins I play both bass and Celtic diatonic accordion. It would never occur to me to combine the two. But the bass stuff has made me consider a real mic solution for the accordion (tricky and somewhat expensive to do well - a purely electric signal is a dream by comparison) so I can add pedals.
I guess I could get one of the electronic Roland things at some point, it feels like the keytar of accordions. but does let you practice with headphones.
