I don’t really consider this ugly but it is kinda an oddball… the Jackenbacker (really named the Jackson X Series Concert™ Bass CBXDX IV). Nicknamed so due to partially copying a Rickenbacker 4001’s looks.

in one of the apartments i lived at in chicago in the 80s, it was the first warm summer day. i was sitting in the living room and the sun was beating down through the dining room window onto the oak window sill. and as it warmed up i saw something from the corner of my eye moving and my 2 cats came charging in. and two seconds later a swarm of winged termites came pouring out of the wood and flying in a big black cloud in my living room, which my cats of course went bananas chasing around. that was a fun call to the landlord. “hey i’ve got termites”, “no i’m sure they’re not termites”, “listen dude, they’re termites”. YEAH, that wasn’t cheap for him.
I think I really like the industrial feel of this one. Sure it’s done in a garbage way but I like the idea.
Forget taking it to a luthier for a setup. You’d need a plumber for that thing.
If I had a cheap sh*t kicker bass right now I’d be on my way to the hardware store
