San Pellegrino straight up no flavor no lemon.
OK, then. Topo Chico, plain, not lime version.
You know? over have the Buzzers on this thread mentioned tofu with curry, I hardly ever eat curry with tofu, lol. Maybe because the curry I eat I usually have the default meat in mind. Like Chicken green curry, Fish cake red curry, Stew beef or brisket Penang, etc. I usually have it the same way since I was a kid.
Gerolsteiner by a mile ![]()
Same here. Chicken, beef, or pork usually. And I eat a lot of tofu ![]()
Have never run across that. Maybe it’s at Whole Foods.
My favorite tofu dish is a tofu and meat stew with vegh the secret is a spoon full of MSG. Braised it till it’s nice and thick and the tofu absorb the goodness serve over rice and have food coma for a week. Lol
Sounds awesome.
I think my favorite has to be sukiyaki. Tofu is only a part of it but it goes great with the meat.
Or just on its own like hiyayakko. With high quality tofu it’s great as a standalone breakfast with some ponzu.
See here your Sukiyaki and the South East Asian Sukiyaki is not the same, they are both delicious but rather on the opposite end of the flavor spectrum. Japanese is sweet and Umami the other is Spicy and pungent. Lol.
My first exposure to age-dofu (fried tofu) was with sukiyaki. I remember fondly going down to the little Japanese market in Clawson, MI and feebly attempted to practice my then very weak Japanese with the store clerks. When I said I was going to make sukiyaki for the first time they helped me find all the right ingredients and sent me on my way! My first go making it wasn’t excellent but I really fell in love with fried tofu shortly thereafter.
That name sounds like its 4% alcohol 🫠
Awesome! Really cool of them to help you out. That’s a great story.
lol, yeah, for sure. It’s named in the same way as some German beers, after the town, Gerolstein. Their water has been in production (and popular) since the 17th century.
I haven’t read through the whole thread because I need to go and eat dinner, but pan fried salt and pepper tofu is amazing. Freeze your firm tofu (without draining the package first) before you cook it and it takes on this amazing textured consistency. So good.
Sounds yummy. Gotta try that.
Ooh. Time to grab a block of momen tofu for breakfast.
