Ultimate Guitar versus Songsterr?

Tabs only, mostly fine but I’m finding others on yt sometimes play
some songs differently. Songs sometimes are not totally there.
Songster has dark mode and costs more than ultimate guitar.
I don’t know much about UG, do they have dark mode?
Dark mode is kinda important to me.
The way to get cheap UG is to sign in but don’t pay, visit 3 times in couple days then you’ll get the big discount email… :jbass: :sunglasses:

If your new I recommend songster…
Get songster and play lots, bank those hours… :jbass: :sunglasses:
Its worth it…

I heave paid versions of both, they are pretty equivalent in terms of quality. Some good, some horrendous. The thing that irks me about both of them, is that you are effectively paying for user created and copied from each other tabs. You’re not really paying the company for their transcriptions, you are paying for their interface, storage and sourcing/licensing of said transcriptions. I dunno, they are a decent enough starting point for most music, but don’t expect perfect.

Does UG have dark mode?

UG doesn’t seem to have dark mode that I’ve seen.

I am seeking Ultimate Guitar bass tabs for a comparison to songster tabs.
I have uploaded the song to Songster and have found it incomplete its not all there.
The song Green Earrings by Steely Dan.
If someone would check out UG and compare it with songster, I would much appreciate it.
If you would copy and paste it or even a section of it it would again be appreciated.

Here’s the link to the Songster version.

Why is no one talking about Guitar Pro here?

I’m interested in which is the most accurate, and hopefully it has darkmode.
I started this thread awhile ago seeking that answer and the jury is still out.
Songster I now use and its okay but I have no personal experience with any other tab sites.
UG they say has no dark mode, does GP?
If you have it would you do a comparison on the song posted above?

Darkmode answer =
As of the latest information available, Guitar Pro for PC does not have a dark mode feature. According to the support article from Guitar Pro, while dark mode is available on the mobile applications for iOS and Android, it is not currently available for the desktop version. They have added it to their wishlist.

Which tab site do you like best?

Here’s the intro. There is no ‘Official’ tab on UG. So it’s only the user generated ones (free) with no tab player.

It does. Above is a shot from their app

I have mix feeling about Songstrr. The AI definitely can capture the notes but not all and not consistently. Although the editing UI is pretty straightforward.

The AI will not generate ghost notes, harmonics, double stops, and rarely slides. Occasionally, it will shift your song half step for no reason and shift it back.

Is it good for beginners? Hmm! That’s tricky. If you ant to get started and want to play right away, probably, if you are after accuracy you’ll not get that. On its best day it’d still miss something.
That said I might keep the subscription because if I want something quick and dirty to get the song started, it’s not a bad tool, certainly takes much much less time to transcribe a song.

Ok i wanna trow something else in. What about rocksmith?
Has anybody tried it?

We are having Rocksmith fun on the discord at the moment after Deadpixels mentioned that they re-released it on Steam for $10 this weekend. Cancelled my RS+ cause the interface is absolutely frickin awful and RS2014 has no sub, with customsforge you get thousands of custom DLC to use.

@Megatronpt 's daughter has now evicted him from both his PC and his Bass so she can play Rocksmith. (And wrecking his high scores )

2014 is the only one I ever had

I’ve never even looked at Rocksmith
Do you somehow plug in your bass or does it use microphone?

You can use a microphone, the official real tone cable that you can pick up on amazon for about $25, or if you are okay with a bit of file configuring you can use a third party set of ASIO drivers and hook up a DAI. I’m using my Scarlett Solo, and Megatron is using a Motu 6.

Oh cool, thanks for the head’s up! Not sure if it’s my thing or not, but for $10 I’ll have a go. Right on.

Do you happen to have a link handy to RTFM about the ASIO drivers? (Is it ASIO4ALL by chance?)

It’s RS_ASIO:

Only thing I did from some extra reading was to set the buffer size to custom and 96.

Oh… the RSMods app, has some neat tweaks and a GUI for the RS_ASIO config file.

I did find this guide in cause you have any issues but the scarlet was pretty much plug in and go so I didn’t need any of the info here, just setup the RS_ASIO ini file as per the config instructions on the github site.
