Ultimate Throwdown of Ultimate Signature Models

The Jabbas look like truly wonderful instruments. Very nice.

Thanks for this post. This is the first that I have heard of Sandberg and IDA NIELSON. Very Very nice looking bass. The basses are on the expensive side. I wonder if they are worth it.

It’s the same as with all things more expensive like cars, furniture… Sandberg produce top quality basses in their German workshop.

I own three different models and I think they are absolutely worth it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

And here’s a video of Julia Hofer visiting them

Yeah they are just great. This and the 550 have the best sounding pickups in my opinion. I mean that literally, especially the P pickup in this and the 550 - they are the best sounding P pickups I know of. Of course this is subjective but you can hear it in the Supercar live video I posted (one of my favorite bands too, you might like them).

This particular model (the Miki Furukawa signature) is relatively rare now but you can probably still find one.

It would be easier to find a SBV-550 (also P/J) but they aren’t common. Same goes for the 500 (the J/J.) None of them have been made since 2006.

I own two SBV-550 now as well (and have owned a third), and they are truly great instruments too, really very similar to the 800MF.

One of these days, you need to try one! Plenty of them in Tokyo ; so I hear :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I think Schecter’s Simon Gallup Ultra Spitfire Bass looks so wonderfully amazing. I have no words…

According to the specs it must be so comfortable to play. "mahogany body and a neck thru 5-piece mahogany/maple neck with Ultra Access. The ebony fretboard with the “Thin-C” neck profile and 20 X-Jumbo frets ensures comfortable playability. "

It has a 2-Way Adjustable Truss Rod. But where the heck is the trussrod nut hidden? Don’t tell me one has to unscrew a plate from the headstock to access the nut. Trussrods’ nuts should always be easily accessible. Why the pluck do they make things more difficult than they have to be? (Disclaimer: I was unable to find information on this but I can’t see the nut in any picture)

Otherwise, this bass looks like a dream!

This is really common. You can just leave the plate off too

Love me some Nathan East, but throwing this out there as well

Yup, I have to unscrew a plate to get to the truss rod on my guitar.

@howard @Billn Well, at least it isn’t necessary to remove the whole neck like in some vintage models. But still, why make things more complicated. The plate looks very nice, it would be a shame to leave it off. I imagine designs like this are made by people who live in climates with no humidity changes. Awesome bass, nevertheless.

@andrea-slndr generally we aren’t adjusting the truss rod every week so these designs aren’t really that much of a problem.

It depends on where you live. Here in the Finnish summer I might need to adjust it fairly often, unfortunately. It gets rainy, then dry, then rainy, super rainy, dry…

Have you seen Robert’s signature bass? It’s also a Schecter (bass vi).

Yes! It is also a beauty. I prefer Simon’s (the design and 4 strings). I might one day in the future want to have that bass. Correction: of course I want it, but maybe some day some years from now.
