My only issue with Mayones is…
There are too many good ones to choose from. @MikeC Signature series are great, but so does Mohini Dey. Wait I couldn’t find hers anymore.
Your first Hadrien Feraud Signature was the siren song that led me to Mayones.
As far as signature basses go, I was immediately attracted to the Mayones Jabba Federico Malaman Mala 4 Signature.
My Ibanez bass (that’s about 15 years newer than my guitar) has a hinge on the plate that flips it out without screws and is pretty slick. I do consider it a plus if the truss rod is easy to adjust, but it only takes a couple minutes extra so it’s not a big deal to take the plate off for me.
Putting the truss rod adjustment in the neck heel so you have to take it off is a deal breaker for me though. That’s much less because of the truss rod adjustment and more because it indicates prioritizing “vintage” over working in the whole bass.
They have a slightly goofy name; but, other than that, it’s all top notch.
Well they forgot a string when they made yours ![]()
My Mayones Jabba EP Custom is my own one-of-kind signature bass.
I spec’ed everything on it including handmade 4-string Velvetrone pups and a 9.5” radius neck.
It took getting personal authorization from Mayones’ owner, Dawid Dziewulski, to get this bass built, but he OK’ed it on the condition that it be made by a Mayones master builder.
I love my other basses, but this is what I play over 90% of the time. It just fits me like a glove, and it is perfection to my ears.
I have two 4-stringers and 1 fiver from them (and a second fiver coming very soon). While Feraud only plays 5-string basses, there are also 4 string versions ohis signature basses ![]()
Paul Simonon Signature Model
Oops, I may have misread the thread title as
Ultimate Smashdown (or Clampdown) of Ultimate Signature Models.
I would absolutely take a SBV-550. Looking around, the only ones I’m currently seeing for sale are all located in Japan. I have no idea what cost and duties on importing would be, especially with WHATEVER the current tariffs and such are.
They offer this in a hollow body, too. Very pretty instrumental. The specs on these necks are the same as my Schecter C4 standard model. It’s the most comfortable neck I’ve come across. It feels so slim. I love it. Only thing comparable, to me, is a Thunderbird neck. But people tend to hate on Tbirds in general ![]()
If the Marcus is ever in need of a new home just let me know…

Happy to help if you find any you’re interested in, I can check out the ad and see if it is listed locally.
I would suggest to buy my red one but after shipping it would likely be in the same range as the online ones. I could guarantee it’s good though.
The finish is beautiful!
Reverend Linh Le Signature Lil Linhbacker Bass
I don’t know who Linh Le is, but it’s “my” Avocado bass in very manly colours ![]()
That’s her:
Apparently you need to be able to perform a naeryeo chagi in order to play the bass!
I looked at a bass in Japan a few months ago, shortly after the tariff thing kicked off. I priced it out and it almost doubled the cost of the bass with shipping, taxes, and tariffs (aware that tariffs are a tax) added on. The tariffs were almost half of the added cost. I’d wait until the current climate in the US chills out a little.
As always, I am happy to offer to show any visitors where to satisfy their GAS cravings tax-free. So far I am at a 100% wallet impacting rate for BassBuzz friends, including @JoshFossgreen.
And I happen to know exactly where there’s a really good SBV-550 for sale - I am sitting about 1m from it right now, in fact ![]()
a naeryeo chagi
Ah, those were the days… I could pull off some wicked yop chagis in my time ![]()
Apparently you need to be able to perform a naeryeo chagi in order to play the bass!
This is required.
