Hi @Lanny,
Just looking at it now it’s been pimped, will it ever make its way back home
It looks awesome :+1:

Great name! I was going to suggest “Queen of Battle”, the official nickname of the the US Army Infantry

I’m sure it will Brian @b.s.excavations… If I get too use to having it around I’ll find a Fender P that I can trick out “Navy” style for myself:rofl::rofl:.

@eric.kiser Eric - Thanks! Seems like all my grandsons want to go Army which os way off for our family which has always been Navy for that last few generations… Got another grandson in college who’s also talking Army in another year or so after he graduates.

@howard - Yup, my one grandson who left a couple years ago went infantry. They always argue with the artillery who are referred to as the “Kings” of the battlefield… The one that just joined signed up for special forces working demolition.

@Lanny I’m wondering if the paint on the pickguard will be solid enough ? is it a special paint or something ?

otherwise there is the metal 57 style pickguard :

A few coats of clearcoat over the paint would help if it isn’t.

It is a metallic paint @terb and not very durable however I will be doing what @howard suggested by spraying on a couple coats of clear coat in the future.

well. I finally got the Fury all back together with half a set each of deep talkin bass white wrapped and black nylon wrapped. New EMG preamp with stacked mid. And I have to say it sounds great. But the clearcoat didn’t hold up as well as I wanted, so eventually I will have to try something with a hardener in its mix.

Nice @Mao! Would love to hear it play!

Thanks. I’ll try and hook it up to the set up tomorrow and give it a run through on something I can kick into the B string on. I avoid the C string majority of the time unless I’m noodling around and making garbage sounds through effects. Would Definitely recommend a 5 over a 6 string to a conventional bassist that doesn’t want to detune or string for BEAD. that C string is just a solo enhancer in my hands… and I’m a bass player soooo.

@Lanny Amazing! I just got a current model Squier Precision. Nice to know it can really last if taken care of!

Thank them for their service for me!

My grandsons did take care of this one @architecht13. Needed a good cleaning and a new set of strings mainly. I will be doing some upgrades to the electronics in a couple weeks though. After a little input from one of our resident “P Bass” pros (@terb), i will be updating the pickups and controls. Right now I’m still trying to get use to playing it (I’m a Yamaha & Ibanez player) since the neck isn’t as fast as my other basses and still feels a bit “clunky” when I play it. Decided that I should record a couple songs prior to the electronic upgrade, and then re-record after the upgrades are made so that I have a good comparison… Should be interesting…

Keep on Thumpin’!

I was just saying to myself that this P would look killer with gold tuners and a gold bridge cover. you could even hide the foam under the cover.

I put a couple gold tuners on it @terb - looks GREAT!! Will (Maybe) throw a coat or two of clear coat on the pick guard When I pull it back off to upgrade the electronics in a couple weeks. Kinda diggin’ the wear marks I’m creating on the pick cover now while playing a couple songs using different styles of play though…

Was going to do that @Jamietashi and still might but I threw myself a challenge that has had my fingers in knots trying to learn so that I can record it before I replace the electronics in the thing. Actually, I’m planning to record two songs of different genres using different playing styles so that I can have a good point of reference to compare to once the electronics are replaced.

Snagged a pair of entry level monitors for like $20 used:

to go with my upgrade from last week:

Plus I am willing to bet my bass will sound decent through them if I want to try it. Not awesome, but decent.

@terb I am so jealous of your KRK’s. Were you able to fix them?

I’m working on it right now ! I was not able to repair the integrated amp, so I’m converting them to passive monitors with an external Class D amp. I made back panels and I’m adding a crossover filter :

it’s not an ideal solution, but passive monitors are way better than no monitor at all !

Well done! Nice monitors are great to have.
