Yes, I was thinking that by the time the pups arrive, I will probably be able to put my youngest through college (he’s 7 now).
They kinda have to, they are one of the two big online dealers I know. They are too busy now, it’s difficult to get my order in. I put $600 in my cart for my American deluxe precision with the double jazz and p all Delano and Sonar want to get the knobs layout option but never get any reply. I’ve done this 3 times already. Hmmm!
You should take advantage the bridge real estate and make a mute bridge out of it, lol.
I’d go ahead and install the new strings, since you don’t have any real idea when the pickups will actually arrive.
Once strings have been cut to size and coiled around the tuning pegs, popping them on and off only takes a few minutes and doesn’t usually require re-doing a setup.
Then you can play around, record before and after samples and generally have fun.
Of course, I’m all about immediate gratification. ![]()
I’ve past the 4 1/2 month mark in the Les Claypool pickups. The last update I got (2 weeks ago) was “they are on the truck to us next week”.
I guess our pickups are due to arrive on the feast of St. Never.
OMFG!!!
St. Never’s Eve comes early this year!
After all that waiting I hope they live up to expectations. ![]()
I was waiting for my pickguard, if it comes tomorrow I’ll be building 2 basses this weekend, may be 3 the paranormal needs the x series treatment, lol. Post your picture too will ya?
There is a Santa Claus
Tomorrow….!!
Well I got not one but two visitors this morning. I’ll be hanging out with these guys this afternoon.
alas, the Les Claypool pickups have screw tabs at the bottom of the pickups, so need shorter screws. The instruction manual lists shorter screws (and longer standard screws, along with rubber tubing ‘springs’) as part of the kit but…they are not in the kit!
So, they cannot go in!! Argh, so close…
Sent EMG a note (closed til Monday), we shall how long that will take!
Cut down some other screws and they are in!
Kinda.
No room for battery so have to make a trip to my buddy’s woodshop to make some room and fit the battery to actually play them.
At least they look nice.
Why is the order taking so long? May I ask who you ordered them from?
