Mighty pretty, @Pablo. Congrats.
I love those 174s! They sound awesome.
Very nice! So, what’s the upgrade you’re going to do on it?
@PamPurrs the bass itself is the upgrade. I currently own a Sterling Ray4HH, so this is nice bump up for me.
From the reviews I saw, it has a nice vintage tone but with a more modern voicing with the Nordstand Big Break pickups, and it has both passive and active modes.
Oh, i thought this thread was about performing upgrades on basses, not acquiring new ones. My bad I guess.
I thought it was both, but it’s all good, I’m sure.
Theres a thread called Show us your Basses
As soon as it arrives, I’ll be posting on that thread. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks @MikeC! Cant wait to get my hands on it.
Looking forward to it
I spilt two fingers of whiskey over the amp while practicing last night…
It smells like a pro upgrade at least!
No drinks on amps @HowlinDawg !!!
And as for wasting the good stuff…. I have no words
Ooops, edited the wrong message!
Not wasting. Paying homage to bassists departed.
In the Balkans, during the first round, they will traditionally pour the first shot or a share of the first shot of rakija onto the ground in order for the spirits to partake in… the spirits.
All by design
Which brand did you treat your amp with? I’m thinking of upgrading my amp too
Another string upgrade on my NS WAV Electric Upright…
The LaBella RC610s that I put on sounded great when playing pizzicato, but didn’t perform well under the bow. I switched to these D’Addario NS610 Traditional strings. They very closely emulate the percussive thump of the acoustic bass, while providing a nice rolling sound in arco.
I also have on order a set of GHS NS3075 strings, which are made specifically for the NS Design EUBs.
Upright strings are crazy expensive, so I shouldn’t be so capricious about them. But I hardly spend any money on food these days, so what the heck
Always finding the silver lining. Sweet!
I’ve read good things about those.
Which? The D’Addarios or the GHS?
