Using a pick (newbie)

I tried using a pick the other day. It is not as easy as it looks. “Planet Earth” has a very simple bass line in the opening bars, but it is not as easy as it looks.

What are tips for getting those (what seems to be) 16th notes? Where should the pick go? Near the bridge or further up?

Edit: Is there a way to play 16th notes finger style? I am sure I will learn this later down the line, but still curious.

Well, yes, it’s like 8th notes, just faster

But, yes, it is possible - it just takes some practice…

Wow definitely using a pick there. I’d have sworn it was fingerstyle

Picking the root+octave in the transition part looks pretty fast but fun to try.
