Yeah, wanna come down and test his basses together?
Flying right now is scaring the crap out of me, as I’ve been watching too much of the Mentour Pilot and GreenDot Aviation, . One thing for certain I won’t be on a Boeing planes for a while.
I can’t disagree with this. Last year, maybe the year before, I bought a LOT of basses, all online. Every one of them had some sort of issue. I still peruse Reverb and the like, but… if I’m going to buy a bass, I’m going to search it out in person so that I can give it a test play or two.
QFT. As long as humans are involved, I think you can have the best QC in the world, and somehow, some way, some bad ones are going to slip through.
But on the flip side, there’s amazing stuff from Fender MIA, MIM, and MIJ, and everywhere!
I buy used instruments online all the time. New instruments I greatly prefer trying in the store and then finding exactly the one I want. When I bought my latest BB I went to five stores and tried a couple per store and picked the one I liked the best out of maybe a dozen, and there WERE differences (small things like fretboard grain or knob feel, etc).
I have also gone in, tried an instrument, and then gone home and bought it from their web shop because I was lazy. But only when I knew via S/N that I was getting the one I tried.
I just don’t trust manufacturer QC with new instruments.
Speaking of NBD, my 6 string jazz Squier just arrived today. I paid under $300 shipped and I gotta say I’m very impressed with the build quality.
Graphite truss rod, 6 bolt neck so far so good.
No fret sprouts, every thing feels tight and ready to go. I can’t wait to plug it in the fingerboard at 20th frets feels like an aircraft carrier here are some pics
I’m don’t think it’s being harsh. For that amount of money, you can surely expect a quality product. My basses are both around 500 € and have exceeded my expectations in regards to construction and quality. For 1600$ you want quality.
I am excited for you and happy that you are happy. It looks to be better quality/workmanship than tonyd89 $1600 consideration. I wonder why the head stock is not marked with place of manufacture or serial #. The Squire logo and placement on the neck looks off too.
Yeppers, I know that’s BC but it could just as easily have been Colorado and I much prefer picture B. Too damn many other humans in picture A. Denver is pretty much Calgary with the mountains closer to the city. If my wife can find a remote position, we’re moving up to Leadville which is surrounded on 3 sides by 14K ft peaks (the city sits at 10k) and an hour and a half drive to Denver.
I’m very impressed with the sound and tone quality. There’s some hum when I’m not touching the strings so I could be ground loop situation. I’ll open it up later.
