@Wombat-metal I like their music and dance, but the add on of a rap guy makes me cringe,
I am loving my new favourite band “Riverside”
This is a great song
Cheers Brian
I have been listening to “Riverside” for quite a while. Their bassist [Mariusz Duda] is one of the main reasons I started thinking of the bass as a sort of chordal instrument. The song “Wasteland” highlights a lot of chord playing and honestly, I did not know that a bass could do that so cleanly.
Have you seen Josh’s video on bass chords? In addition to being informative, it’s Noob Josh’s first video:
Yes, but what he was doing during that one song was like a light bulb moment for me. It was so clean with no mud and he was playing it much like a rhythm guitar and propelling the song forward. Lemmy did much the same but not in a pretty, melodic way.
Love the light bulb moments! I also just like sharing videos with Noob Josh in them.
We don’t get enough Noob Josh, do we?
NO. NO WE DON’T
I think Josh needs to do a Noob Josh lesson at least once a week. A total lesson on things “NOT” to do
He could just cull the forum for examples of all the mistakes we cop to lol
Listening to Wasteland and I totally see/hear what you mean (edited at @EddieJones suggestion)

You should watch the live version. He is so damned good.
D’oh - jinx post! lololooool
Haha…I love the opening riff. It is so clean and melodic. Also, it is a master class in bass picking
Josh mentioned it somewhere recently - it’s public information lol!
I tend to stick with my staples
Soundgarden
Tool
Primus
Rage
Cake
Skynyrd
Rush
However a somewhat less known band that absolutely blows me away is Polyphia. The guitar player, Tim Henson is absolutely insane. Might be my favorite instrumental band. The drummer is also incredible, the hi-hat work in some of their songs just blows me away. I know this is a bass forum and the bassist here is amazing as well, they gel so well together, I can’t get enough.
Honestly as good as Henson is it’s their drummer that consistently blows me away.
Polyphia’s fantastic across the board, and good on them for bringing math rock mainstream.
