Well this is getting spicy.
If I were going to try to tell people what to do, which I wouldn’t (and is why I would never want to be a moderator), I would suggest that people stop telling others not to express themselves. That’s never going to work well.
Then I would also advise that people assume good intent and take posts at face value. Now, some of the posts above had pretty piss-poor face value, but it seems people have apologized. Perhaps it’s time to move on.
But I’m just a guy, not a mod. So these are just what I would do. I’m more similar to @EddieJones above than anything else here - what I have liked has never been exactly close to mainstream and over the years have just had to deal with other people’s takes on my musical tastes with humor. Not everyone is equipped to understand why some things are great. And there’s lots of great things I really dislike myself. It’s just how we all roll.
Not to say I haven’t picked some spectacularly low-stakes hills to die on before either but hey it’s best to pick your battles

Yeah, all right, let’s not get really nasty here. She did have a good point in that telling people to STFU is never going to work well. And her Tal comment was pretty funny actually (and I suspect if this convo were in person you would probably laugh yourself).

It’s definitely true that the discussion was getting long even by then. But going nasty and personal isn’t going to help anyone. Which, like I said, I strongly doubt her comment would have caused you to do had we been in the same room. But that’s just some outside perspective, take it as you will.
