What are you listening to right now?

Spirit Adrift just put out another stellar record.
These guys love their metal.
Sabbath, Maiden, Pantera, Metallica - their influences are gloriously obvious. And they have good riffs.
I like the whole album.
I don’t like the music videos, so I’m posting the only lyric I could find.
If you like trad metal of the past 4 decades, this will be nice - and check out all their albums.
Good stuff (earlier stuff is much doomier, much more 70s vibes as they go on).

Never heard of them @Gio but putting on their latest album now. So far so good!

1981 Dark Star - NWOBM. I had this on vinyl. Popped into my brain today, haven’t heard it in years.

Cory Wong New album.

So far I’ve been repeating this song, it has a really cool bass part.

Just an incredible powerful song. That DG died, and with him, Woods of Ypres is such a damn shame. They were well on their way to fill the void that TON left behind after Pete died.

Edit: ducking autocorrect!

French synthwave/darkwave with a lot of heavy metal influences. Never thought this would be something for me, but his use of 80’s themes, many different singers to lend voices to his compositions makes for a truly amazing album.

Jared Smith from Archspire. Just so much talent in one person. Those arpeggios at around 6:40 are just ridiculously beautiful.

I really enjoyed the recent Rick Beato interview with Emily Saliers, as I used to listen to Indigo Girls a lot in the 90s. My Rites of Passage CD was played non stop. My favourite song from the album is Jonas and Ezekial so I’ve been listening to live versions.

Love the route Low are going recently. So rare bands get into more noisy/experimental territory instead of becoming more poppy and melodic.

Providing some nerdy counterpoint (as it were)

Listening to Dutch group Molasses. Former members of the great Devil’s Blood and others. Really nice production for this psychedelic/doom/rock and Farida Lemouchi has a vocal that seems simple at first, but it’s weirdly entrancing and spellbinding.

New Marduk album dropped without my knowledge. Difficult to keep up when you are not on much social media. First impression is very good.

I have always been a one-song person. Not literally but when I enter a phase, I can only listen to a handful of songs on repeat. With my son being very into music, I feed my inner metal beast with groups like Gojira, Lamb of God (my favourite), Slipknot and Meshuggah (Why? He’s 9!). However, when it’s MY turn to pick a song, I circle around Bombtrack and Killing in the name of (RATM).

Gojira are amazing, big fan right here. Saw them live and it was just breathtaking how tight they are live. And with the technical level altogether, it was just even more impressive.

Donald Fagen had notorious stage fright, and you can see his hands shaking. Still plays and sings just fine.

Walter kind of disappears on bass. Walter and Donald, two quirky musicians who wrote a lot of good music

Supercar videos can get taken down pretty fast by their label, so watch it while you can. I love Supercar, they were one of Japan’s pioneer '90s indie rock bands.

The bass player is Miki Furukawa, who went on to a great solo career too. Her bass (which is her signature model, a SBV-800MF) is basically one of the final upgrade paths for my SBV-550.
