Louis Johnson 1976, before his iconic Bille Jean bass line. It drips funk.
I love Emma, she has such great emotion in her songs. If only she was a bass player as well, but she’s so talented I’d be willing to forgive her mostly everything.
Currently listening to Hole’s “Doll Parts” about 1000 times per day (according to my girl friend :-))
I totally missed it in 1994, so when I heard it for the FIRST TIME a few weeks ago, I was blown away.
I could never connect to Courtney Love, but I love the whole range of emotions in her singing here (she starts quite tender) and the simple but effective composition.
Also, the bass is easy to play, but very engaging at the same time. I could even play the guitar part (having no real previous guitar experince) - so 100% love!!!
Whoa you just heard Live Through This a few weeks ago? I’m almost envious, it’s such a good album. Violet is still one of my favorite songs from the grunge era, and yeah, Doll Parts is great.
Ok, Violet rocks - and is also very easy to play on bass.
I had some challenges finding a Guitar Pro Tab file, but now I found a MIDI, converted that to Guitar Pro and generated a Rocksmith file from that to play in Tonelib Jam.
Long procedure for quite some fun!
Very happy
I’ve posted some “Playing for Change” videos before, I think, but lately I’ve been listening to this one over and over. Doesn’t hurt to see the Bass Wizard Leland Sklar joining in on this one. He’s actually coming to town for a book signing this Friday and try as I might I can’t get off work to go see him. My disappointment is immeasurable.
Either way, if you’ve never heard of Playing for Change, check them out. They work with street performers all over the world (and occasionally celebrities) and a mobile recording rig to put together these amazing song performances.
Yeah I love it. I’m pretty sure it was Kristen Pfaff on bass on the album but it’s Melissa Auf der Maur in the video as Pfaff died before release - and Melissa Auf der Maur was a great bassist.
That album is one of the best of the whole Grunge era, the band is tight and Love just kills it on the vocals. For me it’s up there with Nirvana’s Nevermind and Bleach.
I have created a video that should help anyone to play Doll Parts. It’s very beginner - friendly.
I use the gamification / 3d mode, but you can see the tabs at the bottom too…
I can feel a bout of the flu coming on…
This is very eclectically cool. I ran across it a few months ago.
Gojira are an amazing talented band. Some of the best musicians I’ve ever seen live. Few tracks really live up their names, but this is straight up fire!
Start looking for the tabs, thanks for distracting me from the course…
It’s super fun, @BozzerWolf!
@BozzerWolf - the tabs can be found in this file: Gojira_Liquid-Fire_v1_DD_p or on https://ignition4.customsforge.com/ (if you want more Tabs)
It’s a PSARC file that can be used in Rocksmith 2014 or Tonelib Jam.
Thanks a lot.
I only have Rocksmith2014 for the Xbox, I think it will work only with the pc version.
You can use Tonelib Jam to play it. It’s free to test.
The only disadvantage of Tonelib Jam is that is has no note recognition for “gaming mode”. Personally, I don’t miss it as I can take advantage of the free 69216 songs on https://ignition4.customsforge.com/.
Most of them are transcribed in a good quality…
Bonus: you can export GP5 (Guitar Pro) tabs from Tonelib Jam.
Good to know. I’ll try it
