What are you listening to right now?

Nice! Though I highly doubt the tempo actually changes like that. I wonder if the source recording was from slightly warped vinyl - note that the tempo changes are cyclical like you would expect in that case. Ahh, vinyl, why why why did people ressurect you?

Such a great mix of two classic songs, that’s my favorite mix of either song.

It’s also my favourite mix, especially because of the bass swipe before the first break!

The tempo changes are not noticeable when playing. It might be due to the creation of Rocksmith PSARC files, which is a little complicated.

I will try to recreate this track with my original FLAC - no vinyl will be hurt then

OK, just checked with Go PlayAlong and the original FLAC: you’re right, timings have variations compared to the original FLAC.
Still I would say: you can play the song perfectly as is.

If I had a “proper” tab, MIDI or GP file I could synch it to the FLAC and create a 100% perfect Rocksmith and/or ToneLiB Jam file…

Oh it’s fine, I just saw the tempo change notations and thought “there’s no way.” The overall tab looks solid.

The bit that it is calling a triplet could probably be notated slightly differently as normal notes but bah, it’s fine and works that way too. Thanks for doing it

Since taking B2B I’ve really enjoyed revisiting old songs and realizing how much the bass line drives my favorites

Even more in the original version

It’s a bummer Generation X didn’t take off until Idol went solo. They actually released this and it went nowhere; Idol remastered it and released it solo, straight to #1. I actually like the mixing of the original much more.

OK, the original file from CustomsForge had slightly incorrect local tempos. Or so it seems - read on!

What I did to correct:

  • I exported the “incorrect” (???) GP5 from Tonelib Jam
  • I removed all Tempo Automations in Guitar Pro and set Tempo to 148 BPM
  • I let Go PlayAlong analyze the resulting GP5 and sync with the original FLAC.
  • I let EOF and RocksmithToolkitGUI do it’s magic to create the Rocksmith PSARC file.
  • Then I imported the PSARC into Tonelib Jam.

The file was perfectly synched, with the original file, but the local tempos were changed again.

Just to check I imported the original FLAC again into Tonelib Jam to see if syncronisation was somehow changed. It played perfectly.

What does it mean?

  • either the tempo really does change in this track. Remember, this was pre-MIDI. Maybe it was not as exact as we think?
  • or the displayed local tempo is incorrect, but the audio/tab is still perfect!

Bottom line: the YouTube video is good to go

Every time someone mentions GenX in conversation I think of the band. It’s been a while but I believe GenX had issues with the label and contracts and didn’t get promoted well. If I remember that is. I was a fan at the time.

Currently mainlining Angie McMahon’s Light, Dark, Light Again. My 2023 album of the year to be sure.

Here’s my current favourite song from it done live.

Ok I might have to actually check out a Nemo song about Amaterasu. Though Unlucky Morpheus would be a good choice for the subject matter too.

Totally AI generated.
Which is scary as hell IMO.
THE more you listen the more you hear how nuanced the ai weaved Carlin comedic tenants from his act and his way of presenting, to thoughtfully tying bits to other bits so it’s a special and not just a bunch of jokes in a row.
Perfect - nope
Damn damn good - yep (and it’s only the second try at a comedy special).

Man, that band is tight. Marcus is a stone killer. And his Sire sounds pristine.

Adding this tune to the For the Love of Jazz thread. :+1:

New video. They are usually so cinematic in their videos, looks like they picked something up from their collaboration with Bring Me the Horizon as this is so raw

I very recently discovered spiritbox and I’m really digging them. Similar vibe to jinjer with female clean/harsh vocals.
