Great era for those guys. I barely missed seeing them live as Bauhaus; I did see Love & Rockets/Tones On Tail though.
0930hrs on a Sunday morning, what could be better than an official bootleg of a 1978 concert with one of the best rock/pop/ska bands to come out of the UK. Normal Watt-Roy is a full-on character bassist. I’m hoping to see The Blockheads live in Aberdeen in March. It’s a small venue so if I can meet Norman that would be awesome.
Some naughty boy has put this on YouTube, but it was already an official bootleg.
Man I just love Pelagic as a label. That is so good.
I love instrumental metal/djent although sometimes the bass ends up a bit redundant
Lots of post-metal bands with outstanding bass. Check out Syberia and pg.lost.
One of the few genres I have heard in metal where a J-bass works very very well:
Well, the relationship to bass can be tricky in post metal sometimes
Here’s another song that keeps coming up in my YT feed
Yeah Russian Circles are pretty much the standard I judge post-metal by - they were one of the first I heard. I think you actually introduced me to the genre a few years ago with pg.lost
Specifically (and speaking of great bass):
I’m pretty new to the genre as well, but could be possible
Feels like I really dove into the genre back in 2020 and I’m still discovering something new every other day
This is SICK!
I always have to smile and get in a good mood when I hear that kind of music. I know I shouldn’t and it is really not my kind of music, but I find it totally funny!
What are they playing? Why do they sing like that? Nobody knows!
Possibly this is something totally different (I can’t tell!), but this is the only album I purchased that sounds like that (for me) when a friend suggested it:
I play it when guests stay too long…
As far as I remember this started more as a piss take on the whole Norwegian BM scene, but it became rather popular.
I do love the old 90’s black metal scene.
Stumbled on this last weekend in a tiny record shop in Brooklyn.
Bought for the cover, but damn if the album ain’t grand.
It’s funky alright
