So… I’m ducking, but I wasn’t joking

Let me convince you with an example of elaborated lyrics:

“Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Life goes on, brah
La, la, how the life goes on
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Life goes on, brah
La, la, how the life goes on”

WTF?

Brah!

Don’t make me use “Michelle” as an example.

But … the words go together well!!!

:joy:

I can almost guarantee that Ive spent more time listening to blur than the Beatles in my life, but thats still quite a statement.

I just listened to Tender, its got a neat bassline. Its really simple sounding, it sits in the percussion section and just adds color to the kick drum. I may have to check it out.

Are you comparing Beatles lyrics to blur? Because:

“Jets are like comets at sunset.”

Thats a 6 min long song :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It does include three things I like very much:

  • Jets
  • Comets
  • Sunset

Beatles are laughing all the way to the bank.

I remember one Christmas when a video game was released and popular and you had 4 generations singing along every time a Beatles song came up.

I’m not a fan of the Beatles, but props to them.

None of you have a favorable opinion of the Beatles from hanging out with friends drunkenly sing shouting Beatles songs in college? I can’t believe I’m the only one with this experience.

No they had been put away with childhood things. I had my Yellow Submarine lunchbox, and would be excited whenever a new single came out, and our bus driver played them on the way to school, but by college we were “grown up” and into our version of anti establishment music. Like the Go-Gos, they were edgy at the time. We were too adult to listen to anything as mundane as the Beatles. Hubris of youth.

Mom would throw on a Beatles record on Saturday mornings when it was time for the family to clean the house. I appreciate what they represent for music on the whole, but that’s what they are for me.

I was a big Blur fan and I just remembered how obsessed I was with ‘Entertain Me’ at the time - primarily because of the bassline.

It might have been one of the triggers to get my first bass many moons ago

No. And while I appreciate them more now, I listen to them even less.

I posted it originally as a joke, of course, but later realized… I was kinda actually not super in disagreement with that joke

Lot’s of people will have had a similar experience re The Beatles.

Just like lots of people sang along to The Osmonds.
