What are you listening to right now?

Cabaret Voltaire

But then you must also mention Tuxedo Moon!

(sorry, this is the most commercial song, but I really really love it!)

This just reminded me of the last time I saw Nitzer Ebb live, on tour with Tones on Tail, who actually played a mixed ToT/Bauhaus/Love and Rockets set.

And I had front row seats.

That was a good show.

Is that english for “mosh pit”?

My last “EBM” (ok, not really EBM) show was DAF. Was pretty astouned what a nice and timid guy Gabi Delgado was…
It was also the last time I was in the front row (aka mosh pit), as I thought I was hard … but the others were much harder

One last mention and then I’ll focus on “real” bass stuff again:

Einstürzende Neubauten had a great bass player…

EN is a band everyone pays homage to but I know few who were really in to them.

Now I’m remembering the last time I saw FLA, they were touring with Consolidated. Great show. I am pretty sure Bill Leeb whipped me. No not like that.

We are hijacking this thread, but ok

Favorite Consolidated song:

Based on a sample of one of my favourite bands: Meat Beat Manifesto!

Second favourite Consolidated song (NSFW):

Always giggle when I listen to that

One of my absolute favorites. The Bog used to get butts out on the dance floor in the biggest way.

:rofl: Actually I’d already seen @howard posing Skinny Puppy stuff and thought - I know I’ve heard of them and this is very in line with some of what I listen to … why haven’t I really discovered them before?!

Cabaret Voltaire, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 I’m more familar with.

I like the swooping bass on Glass Houses, it’s like a nastier Japan sound.

Those baselines and tone on Jar of flies is just so super crisp. One of the reasons I’m also practicing pick.

And then in convergent evolution there’s The Organ who claim to have not really heard / listened to Joy Division or New Order growing up.

The singer from Interpol used to troll people this way too

That whole album is awesome, and when it landed, there was nothing like it. I actually think Remission is their most important album for this reason - it was just jaw dropping.

Continuing down this darkwave / new wave revival path, I have a real soft spot for The Faint

HUGE fan of Michael League

Honestly though, the copying Joy Divisions sound thing was waaaaay overblown back in the day. Paul Banks has a deep voice like Ian Curtis and that’s about the closest their sound gets.

That would be Snarky Puppy, a very very (VERY) different band than Skinny Puppy
